New motor on the way
I finally have a new motor on the way.
Ernie at ET Automotive in Garland is building me a new 66 428 CJ. It is basically the same motor Keith has in his green car.
Hopefully all will be done by the end of the month. The plan is to have everything ready for Tulsa.

I don't have all the details yet but here is what I know so far.
block is 66 428 CJ - C6ME .030 over
crank is a 10/10 or STD/10 not sure if mains will have to be turned.
TRW pistons.
edelbrock alum heads with Ernies famous porting job.
performer RPM w/holley 750
MSD ignition, coil and dist
not sure on the cam specs but this is a build Ernie has done many times before. He says it will get between 450 and 460 hp and alot more torque. If all goes well we might do the break in runs on the dyno this weekend.

HEY JOHN, ET AL
YOU MOTOR LOOKS GOOD. I WAS AT ERNIES TODAY AND THE PAN CAME IN YESTERDAY. HE WOULD LIKE TO TRY TO DYNO IT THIS WEEKEND BUT HAS NOT HEARD BACK FROM THE DYNO GUY...THINKS HES GONE FOR THE WEEKEND.
THE PINK PAINT ON THE ENGINE BLOCK IS A NICE TOUCH,,, NOT WHAT I WOULD HAVE DONE BUT HEY....IT'S YOUR ENGINE.
IN REALITY YOU SHOULD REALIZE ABOUT THE SAME HP AS KEITH'S WHICH IS 467 WITHOUT THE HOLLEY HP CARB WHICH ADDS SOME MORE. BE PATIENT... IT WON'T BE LONG NOW.
I TOLD ERNIE NOT TO LET YOU HAVE THE MOTOR THIS WEEK, LEST YOU BE FROGGIE AND WANT TO RUN WITH THE GUYS ON SATURDAY
GLAD YOU ARE GETTING CLOSE TO BEING BACK ON THE ROAD. NOW KEEP THAT 3,000 RPM REV LIMITER IN THE MSD AND EVERTHING WILL BE OK.
JAY
PS. YOU GOT ANY MONEY LEFT TO BUY SOME SPRING FLING TICKETS???????

Thanks for the update. I talked to Ernie yesterday and he seemed very pleased with the motor.
One correction the color is Rasberry not Pink. Just so you know it is two shades lighter than Rhubarb.
