I would be interested in pictures of the SilverCobra from MSR, but will not be at lunch on Sat. John, let me know. Gee - do you think he has a picture David McKenzie on my bumper, honking and trying to pass!

Road course advice
I have now had a few days to ponder the weekend at Texas Motorsport Ranch and wanted to get some advice and feedback from others on the track if I could. First time road course for both car and driver so I know I have a lot to learn.
1. The back/front straight away – how fast were you hitting on the straights? On the lead and follow laps, I seemed to be in the mid 80’s and the final open session, I think I got her into the mid to high 90’s before needing to slow. As you approached the end of the straight, when did you start slowing or braking? I started slowing a few car lengths before the first cone and started braking about the 2nd to 3rd cone.
2. The turns/curves – It was about all I could do sometimes to turn and hold the wheel into the turns in the later laps. It was really a workout for my wrists/shoulders. Would this be caused by braking in the turns? Did you brake/accelerate/maintain same speed through the various turns? There was a fair amount of tire squeal on my car. Is this to be expected from 15” BFG Street tires 245/50 & 295/60? I assume that 17” track tires would perform better, but not in my budget. I was running cold pressure of 22 front & 26 rear and wonder if different tire pressure would give better handling.
Any other tips or observations appreciated.

Here are "some" answers to the questions you posted above.
1. On the lead & follow, which Jack advised us to just leave it in third, my shift light has a 6000 chip which equates to 100mph, and the MSD ignition has a 6500 chip which equates to 110mph. I was hitting the MSD limiter on the front straight, and I was shifting into 4th on the open track session and hitting 120-125 prior to coming in to Rattlesnake. I was trying to run progressively deeper into the corners and brake later as I ran.
2. Yes, and also from using the correct hand positioning of "3 & 9" while making smooth turns without squeezing the ---- out of the steering wheel(oh, yeah- right!).

I will post the cold tire pressures for 15" wheels/tires for you when I get home, but I think you are pretty close on the fronts amd maybe a bit high on the rears. If I am correct, I think you would benefit by dropping 3 to 4 pounds in the rears.
I also saw some more of Kevin's photos(film versions) today, and I believe we are all going to be pleased. I also brought him one of our window decals which he will scan , and he has the ability to print a "caption line" below the body/car in the pictures and even can print our names above our cars. Please let me know what preferences you guys might want on your photos and I will tell Kevin. I do know that these prints cost us around $35/ea from the other guys but I think Kevin is thinking about somewhere in the $15-$20 range. Please understand that we ALL will pay the same for his photos, whatever it comes to.

We will have "action shots" tomorrow!!
Oh man, this is too cool!! Kevin Hardison, the photographer that took the action shots of us "thrashing" last weekend, asked me to come into his office a little while ago. He showed me the layout idea he came up with for us on his computer after telling me he had scanned in all his 35mm photos. He has set each of our names in the title line under our cars and I think everyone that participated will be extremely pleased with what he can do. Kevin is planning to meet us at our lunch tomorrow in Mesquite, so I would recommend that all that burned up some rubber bring your checkbooks!
I know I will!!!

O.K. here they are!

Once you enter his site, go to pictures, then click on the box for "Cobra", & you will see 6 or 8 sample shots ans a group of names-ours. Click on your name and your pictures will pop up. Click on each one to expand the picture, and note the number of the ones you like-ie: Russellmsr 2002-01. You can e-mail Kevin with your choices, and he will return e-mail you with a pdf file you can look at, decide the size and cropping you want, & then order them. He can print them with or without the TCC border and your name & the event and date.
I think I have ordered 4 or 5, maybe all of them.
Let me know what you guys think of this.
