Ford GT 40 info in July 29 Autoweek issue
while not an official Ford press release, the following article was in the July 29th issue of Autoweek Magazine, page 4-5, and presumably it is fact and not fiction :
"QUOTE: GT 40 PARTNERS CONFIRMED...Ford has chosen performance builders Roush Industries and Saleen Industries as well as major suppliers such as Lear to produce the GT 40.
Roush will develop powertrain, Lear will work on interiors,United Kingdom based Mayflower Vehicle Systems will develop the GT40's aluminum body and chassis, and Saleen Industries will build the car. Mayflower also works with Land Rover, Aston Martin, Mercedes and Bentley . CARROLL SHELBY will serve as senior technical adviser.
The GT 40 arrives in very limited quantity next summer, but total production will be in the thousands once assembly is fully ramped up.
Saleen, which is busy trying to produce road-going versions of its S7 supercar, will be forced to move at least some of its operations from southern California. That's because Ford wants all GT 40 production operations and suppliers located within 300 miles of its Dearborn Mich headquarters. Lear, Roush and Mayflower all have operations in the Detroit area. END QUOTE ".
