Houston August Meet & Cruise
Here is the scoop for Saturday!
We will meet at Whisey Dick's at 5pm on Saturday. We will do have the 5 pm start time to try and beat some of the possible heat. Whiskey Dicks is a large "Ice House" on the south driving side of Sam Houston toll way feeder between Clay and Tanner. You can see the parking lot from just about anyplace in the joint and it's airconditioned. They open at 5 so we should have our choice of parking.
Whiskey Dick's
4455 W Sam Houston Pkwy N, Houston, TX 77041
Phone: (713) 466-7777
For those that want to cruise before the meet, we will meet in the Sam's club parking lot located at Hiway 6 and I-10 at 1:30pm to take a little back road cruise which will end up at Whiskey Dick's. We will head down I-10 to 359, take 359 to Hempstead and then take 290 back to beltway 8 to Whiskey Dick's. We will leave the Sam's parking lot promply at 2 so don't be late. Bring your cobra or daily driver it does not matter.
Let us know if you plan to attend one or both events. If you plan on doing the cruise and don't have a co-pilot, let me know as one of the club memebers might love a ride.
We will also act on Naja's idea of picking some standard meeting places.
That's all for now. Be sure and post here if you plan to make it.

Linda and I will meet y'all at Whiskey Dick's. The cruise sounds inviting, but Linda did not sound too thrilled at being in Cobra for a total of about 7 hours in one day. Besides, I don't have but 1,000 miles on Cobra- not enough to earn my confidence in its dependability. (Dennis, I do have your cell phone number and I am not afraid to use it if I break down). Later, David.

Whiskey Dick's
Dennis,
Even though my FFR Spec Racer is still in "a lot" of pieces we will try to be there around 5ish if you all don't mind a 300M in with all the Cobras.
Terry

David,
from where you are coming from, Take I-10 until you get to the West Sam Houston toll way (beltway 8), Go north and take the Clay/Tanner exit, it is the 2nd or 3rd exit. Stay on the feeder until you get to Tanner and do a U-turn under the beltway. Whiskey Dick's will be on the right before you get to the next light.

Robyn and I are planning to participate. Just not sure to what degree.
Got the car back from the tranny shop. That part is OK and the fluid appears to stabilize at 185 degrees, but they had trouble aligning the starter, and it is giving me fits, too - slips out of alignment and won't engage.
So, I'll be under the car tomorrow morning (after I see about replacing my primary jack that broke - ya, so what else is new???), trying to do a more permanent fix on the starter.
Hope to make the cruise, but we'll have to see.
