Default Houston Meeting Schedule

A couple of ideas were floated about having meeting locations pre-scheduled, but others had some ideas about occasionally going to different places for the meetings.

I made the following suggestion to Dennis, and he thought it might accomodate both notions of having a set schedule but allowing for some variability. What are your thoughts on the following schedule?:

September - Joe's Crab Shack in Humble
October - Sundance Grill in Seabrook
November - 59 Diner on Katy Freeway
December - new (different) location that is open to suggestion
January - Joe's (Humble)
February - Sundance (Seabrook)
March - 59 (I-10)
April - new location
May - Joe's
June - Sundance
July - 59
August - new
etc., etc., etc.

I checked out a couple of places in Baytown. The Boardwalk Grill at the east end of the Hartman Bridge (at the Marina) is a nice place - very similar to the Sundance Grill. The problem is that the mosquitoes are bad during the warm/hot part of the year, so that it may be a good place to go in December (April may be too warm - mosquitoes). They have a narrow boardwalk along the marina where we can bring our drinks (from the bar) and be in view of the parked cars. Chairs and small tables can be placed on the boardwalk. There is a nice restaurant (grill) for those that may want to eat (after the meeting), but the parking area cannot be viewed from the restaurant. It has a large parking lot. The restaurant manager said that there are few people there on Saturday (around noon or to late afternoon). They have live music on Saturday evenings.

The other place that was mentioned in Baytown was just a little ice house with a dirt parking area on Business 146 - sort of 'out of the way'. The Boardwalk Grill (and parking area) are very visible from the Hartman Bridge.

Thoughts . . . . comments???

Thanks for the effort Frank!

We already talked so you know I like the idea. Lets hear from the rest of you guys.

The plan is to still use the second Saturday of the month for the meetings and most of them will start around 10am.

Anyone that would like to organize a cruise for after the meeting or any other time in the month just shout it out!

NAJA
This sounds good to me as I live south east of houston and will go to the Sundance Grill location more than any other untill I get a few more miles on the cobra. I only have 198 miles on it as of now.

Hey RonD,

No better way to get miles on the car than to drive it to meet other cobra drivers!

If it's got 198 miles on it, it will make it anywhere we meet in the Houston area.

Hope to see you at the September meet.

Dennis

RonD, my car had 198 miles on it about 2 months ago. Now it has about 1600 miles on it. Hasn't failed me yet, but it has come REAL REAL close a couple of times. Have cell phone, phone numbers, and a few select tools handy. I get a little more confident each trip. I even built and installed a larger fuel tank for more range. These cars are too much fun to set in garage. Who cares if it is a little dirty or dusty? Lay to it! Later, David Shelton.

Hey guys,

I'm going to trailer the beast down to the October meet. My folks live in Kemah so it's really convenient. Looking forward to seeing everybody!! The Sundance will be a great place to hang out so I hope we get a good turn out.

See you on the 12th,

Charmer

I'm going to miss you on this one Charmer. That is the same day that Ryan is kicking off the SA club so I will be there. You will be in good hands over here though. Sundance Grill is a great place for a meet.

Dennis,

I was torn between the two as well. I wanted to do both. Say hello to Ryan, Bob, and the S.A. gang. BTW, Thanks again for coming to last months Austin event. We'll see you in Corpus for the November South Texas event. Should be a blast!!

Charmer
