Count me in also. Don't know what all I can do to help but let me know.
Do have access to a couple machine shops and sheetmetal houses.

Talking Texas Help

Your guys are GREAT!!

I think it shows that the Cobra family is TIGHT and takes care of their people.

If you'all finish that car by summer--it would be a great addition to the DVSFIII--and an insperation to others.

Keep the rest of the Cobra family up to date on your progress--and Joel--your in good hands .

Tom, We need one person to organize this or it may turn into a mess. I will cretainly help in any way possible. But we need one person to be a conatact person with the family so they are not bombarded by " how can we help questions"

We are all part of a family here and now is the time to show it.
IM IN, LET ME KNOW HOW TO HELP.

I see the Cobra is at his Dad's in DeSoto but his post says Lewisville? If the son lives here maybe we could bring the car back up here as that would make it much easier for us to help finish it?

Default It's under control!

Fellow members,
This morning, both Tom Meadows and I received return calls from Jack Tunnell. Jack is the FFR coordinator that is heading up the project. The focus through this month will be on the funeral and family, and sorting out what the true status of the state of build the car is actually in.
The support from the membership of both forums has been much greater than anyone expected! It seems that the focus is going to be to help Joel complete the car at his pace, and not one of a "rush, get it done in 48 hours". Jack mentioned that more than 4 or 5 people becomes a "beer and pizza" afternoon and I concur with him. The feeling of both Tom & I is that we/they will assess the mechanical ability of Joel, and then 2 or 3 of us(the grunts) at a time could work under the direction of one of the FFR guys that has at least one build under his belt. We could then set a schedule of weekends/weeknights/whatever with a "sign up sheet" and provide a rotating staff of us(the grunts) to work under their direction. This would allow all our assistance to Joel in moving the project forward at his pace to finally complete his fathers dream.
Jack will get back to either Tom or I in mid January, and we can then formulate a plan that is workable to all concerned.
I will post a new thread in January,2003 with an update, so keep this project and family in your thoughts through the Holiday season, and then volunteer to work when the schedules permit.
In this, we all win.

Thumbs up I fully agree

John,
I think, that your proposed plan is exactly, what we need in order to bring this project to a successful end.
Too many people that are trying to help at the same time will only create a chaos.
A lot of us have the mechanical/electrical knowhow to actually help finalizing the car, while others have the connections to shops, parts,...and a third group is willing to sponsor the project with cash.
I like the idea of a project plan, because then we will be able to determine exactly, when and where we need which type of support. Thank you very much for your efforts to coordinate this.
I am looking forward to contribute to the success of this special project in whatever way.

Best regards
Thomas

Default Thanks John and Tom!

John and Tom,

I kind of knew that you guys would come up with a great plan and idea. Just keep us all posted and put me down as a grunt worker. Pizza picker upper or just plan gopher.

Thats why the TCC is the best in the country. Its not the cars its the people.

Hope Jack can put up with Toms jokes

Joel put the car worries at ease and take care of yourself and your family. We will be ready when you call.

Lightbulb Thoughts on a paint job.

John - excellent plan - count me in as one of the grunts.

If I understand Joel's post, it appears that most of the major part components are gathered and ready for final assembly. There will always be a lot of trips to the parts store and the hardware store for belts, hoses, fittings, wire looms, bolts/nuts/washers, etc. The only possible "big ticket" item may be the cost for the body and paint work. Perhaps many of the $ offerings from around the country could be used for this. The FFR Forum posts from Joel's dad seemed to indicate that he was focusing on "Titanium w/no stripe". Perhaps the SPF "Titanium Frost" color would be something to look at.

Mastercraft is in the Desoto area and has excellent experience with street rods and Cobras and would be worth considering. My painter - Excalibur Collision (near Fairpark) did and excellent job for me this time last year on my Unique SilverCobra. If Joel/Jack decide to go with Excalibur, I would volunteer oversee the body/paint work for the car. I have e-mailed Jack and we will see what develops over the next few months.

Default Dick, I like it!

Dick,
I like it!. This is the kind of help that will prove to be invaluable. Through our collective efforts, we will all achieve our goals, and who knows how many lives we touch and what good we can accomplish just by being who we are.
This is what makes TCC what it is, and very special to all of us.
I think I'll go get a cup of coffee now, 'cause it's almost time to go to work.

I just want you to know that the interest in helping get my Dad's car finished is overwhelming. I want to thank you all! My Mom and sister also send their thanks. You really are a great group of guys.
I'm still getting up to speed with what I still need to do and/or get. By the middle/end of this week Jack will have pictures and as full of a status report as I can give him.
Can't thank you all enough,
Joel Martin
