Man I am tiered of poor Quality
I purchased lower control arms coil over shocks and upper control arms all from the same place Speedway .Just under a $1000.00 Come to find out the lower mount of the shocks Do not fit the lower arms .The bolts that goes thru the shock are 7/16 and the bolt that {holds } the shock to the Lower A arm is 1/2 .Hmmm .So I spoke to Marty and his responses is make it work its all we have . So that means its up to the purchaser to redesign there product to make there parts work correctly .I know being in the business that this is common but I also know that Quality comes first as well as Customer Satisfaction .It just seems it accurse more and more and it is just Very sad that a product would be sold as a kit and it doesn't even FIT ! Just needed to get this off my head .ck out the pick .

They should have told you about the size difference. But then the salesline people are just that. Order takers. You can change the bearing in the shock to a 1/2" and drill out the spacers or buy 1/2" bushings, looks like the cone bushings are too big anyway and need to be trimmed.

Tony, isn't this fun? Your control arms are made by Speedway and the coilovers are made by Carrera. I had the same problem with mine, but I will have to look and see what I did. Next you will probably find out that the Carrera coilover shock and the spring is a little too short. I removed the shock mount plates and welded a new plate flush with the top of the spring pocket. Also made a 1/2 " spring spacer because I ran out of threads on the adjustment collar. I seem to remember I changed out the bearings in the shocks for 1/2" ones I got from Carrera. I don't like the steel sleeve bearings because they are noisy, so I used the Nylon ones. This sounds like a lot of trouble but really isn't. You will find out a lot of things are not going to just bolt-on this car like they should. Especially if you mix and match parts from different manufacturers like I did. If you need part # or anything else let me know. Later.

Ck this out
Ok KountZ you were right on the spring being short but ck this out .We put the left lower arm on the right side and the Right on the left so that the lower shock mount would be on the top to make contact with the coil over .I found some bushing to make the shock work just need to make some spacers .

You need to reset the clock and the date in your camera. It is NOT Dec.19 2002 yet. It will be later on, but not yet!
We don't miss a thing in here.

I did a lot of custom and different things with my Cobra build. Lone Star did a good job with their stuff for the most part but some of the other big names. Ford Racing Parts, Edelbrock, Moroso gave me fits. In the catalog and tech data not a word about this is different, this won't fit that, be careful about this etc. Then the vendors response "We can't plan for all the possibilities or worse yet " So send it back or even worse "I don't know". I got the "I don't know" many times from big names. I think the problems may be with poor personnel, who don't give a rat's ass about the client. At Edelbrock I got the run around on valve to piston clearance problems. When I finally showed up in Torrance CA with the heads I got to talk to one of the TOP GUNs who figure the problem out in 10 minutes and the solution was some obscure push rods and lengths. A trip to Torrance to get action???

Looks like it may work Tony. I couldn't do that with mine because I am using the stock struts and the strut mounting plates wouldn't line up with the control arm reversed. Keep up the good work!

Turk Your a Bad Boy ! GO to your room ! HA HA AHA AHA
Cobra Chuck I know even the Big Name brands have parts that do not fit correctly but it is sad that you would have to spend your time having to travel to get a problem solved where are those big guns when the average tech an not help ?I bought a paint booth so called Quality and ran in to multiple problems but the worst was that one exh fan motor keep burning up .They claimed the problem was the electrical wire was to long but when it came down to it .All in all the left fan blade had a straighter fin there for causing it do drag and increase the amp draw and burned the motors up .So with all that I ended up getting 1/2 my money. It just seems to happen more and more .

Tony,
Gotta be careful with these mix-and-match parts. I got mine from JPL, and they fit very well. What I had done was to call a bunch of different control-arm vendors and ask them to fax me a tracing of the part, and other dimensions, which many did. JPL's fit nicely, were excellently welded, even included a tool for drill alignment, and were priced well.
Be careful about swapping left side to right, etc, as IIRC, the arms are not symmetrical. You could throw off the caster, etc, although with the arm flipped upside-down as well, you may be okay.
I'm using Carrera's as well, so if you have spring-mount probs, perhaps you have the wrong spring? Compare the part # on mine.
Cheers,
-Neil.

Re:
Mustangmendez,
Sorry to hear about the trouble... people/companies like that won't stay in business for long selling junk with boards like this out here. I almost ordered parts from Speedway once, I won't now.
Also, if those upper control arms require Chrysler type screw-in ball joints, when you flip them upside down and reverse them, sometimes the side of the ball joint will "hit" the round end edge/cup of the control arm where the ball joint mounts in to. You can check this with the shocks/springs out and by moving the suspension up and down full/top to full/bottom to make sure its not hitting. Also, the geometry will be way off if you flip them around like this. If all else fails, just send them the parts back anyhow, and demand a refund in writing stating "parts do not fit". If they don't refund you, usually a complaint/phone call to a local business Beaureau official can get things turned around. Good Luck.
