all rates went up...
Maybe pooling our resources might work. Insurance companies (as well as all companies) only see the almighty dollar bottom line. If the stock market would recover, then I could cover the material replacement of my cars myself and only purchase liability for law/inspection purposes only.
I also think that the agent has a lot to do with the insurabilitity and rates. My Allstate agent has known me for 15 years, and has no problem insuring my Cobra for the full cost of replacement. That may not be the case for anyone else approaching him. All I have to do is to give him a copy of the itemized list of parts with prices, and add labor costs. I could also give him the price of a turn-key Cobra plus any customization including interior and paint job. My Cobra is insured as a second vehicle, for pleasure-only, and is not any more difficult for me to insure than a Viper. Mileage seems to not be a concern either, other than it should not show more than my other, everyday use work car.
I would be interested in comparing rates, then approaching several companies to see if we can get "Texas Cobra Club" membership group rates.
