Question Origin Parking

Well we have a hotel and a cruise plan in place. Now we need to get our old parking area for staging. We need to get hold of Stretch and see if he can get permission for us to use the Origin high-rise parking facility again.

Stretch, Please surface and help us. Even a name and number of your friend in Origin would help.

If we don't get Origin parking, we will have to stage from the hotel parking lot.

Default Ed, the hotel works for me.

Ed,
Using the hotel as our start/finish line works for me, as will the Origin garage. Last year, it appeared we had just about maxed out the number of cars we could park and photograph on the top level of that parking garage. I think we had between 53 and 56 cars in the shot, and even with the 28mm wide angle lens Jack the photographer used, I don't think another 20 +/- cars could be squeezed up there. I will count the cars in my framed picture at home, but we may have outgrown the Origin. Also, Stretch might have lost his contact there, so this might also present us with a plan "B" situation.
If that is the case, simplicity becomes the Hotel parking lot, which might not be a bad thing if it gives them some recognition in conjunction with the event.
Just my .02, in favor of simplicity.
John Russell- booked and counting the days!!!

I agree John!

The roof top was nice the first 3 years but I'm affraid we might of outgrown it now!

Change is good and staging at the hotel might not be a bad idea and give us a different menu...........

Just a thought I'd throw out there, is that Hill's Cafe has a really nice parking lot. We had 2 austin meetings there..and Bob Cole would love to have us back...can probably cut a deal on some breakfast for us too...

Thats not a bad idea Blake...if they can block off 100 cars and they have a good view then great. I think the origin garage gives us a great spot with a great view for the meeting...I hate to move it to the parking lot....I know we will drive alot but its kind of fun watching everyone roll into the garage and trying to guess the type of car when you hear it.

Unfortunately, they have no view at all. but they can definately give us the whole parking lot...it's big enough for everyones cars and vendors....

I'm sure we can find a place with a view....or cool background for a photo.

Thumbs up Plenty of room

Don't give up on the Origin Parking Lot, remember there is still one more up ramp to fill. Last year we made the turn to the up ramp. We still can handle more Cobras.

Default 53 Cobras in last year's picture!

As promised,
I just counted my LARGE framed group photo from last year with 53 cars in it(GOD, is that a beautiful shot!!), but it is very easy to see there is vittually no more room in the shot. Sure, we can move people around the corner and up on the left where Jack Puryer was standing to get his vantage point to get all the cars in the picture in an overhead shot, but there is no way thet could be done with the cars on two different levels! Who goes upstairs, away from the main group? I would rather have everyone on one level, with no segregation amongst us, unless you want to put all the Dallas crowd up on the second level, which will give you LOTS of room on the main garage! NO? Then put all the new members, late comers, those without name tags, or the ones that have been in the club the longest, ugliest (nah, that's an all or none),baldest, oldest, youngest, etc, etc!!!
Heck, it might be a moot point anyway if Stretch in still in captivity!
My point is... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
There, I bet you thought I didn't even HAVE a point, head excepted!
Be safe, & go for a drive tomorrow.. I am!!

Thumbs down STretch is ALIVE!

Got a phone call from Stretch today. Said he was very busy, but he is checking to make sure we can use the Origin Garage.

He will let me know in a few days.

He apologized for not getting back to us sooner.

Thumbs up Garage and security

Stretch has obtained permission from Origin. Thanks Stretch!

So we have options available: Origin or Hotel cruise staging Areas

--------------------

Hey guys,

I'm so out of touch but thanks to Gregg and Cammer's persistance in pinging me, I've contacted the Origin folks and we have the garage Saturday morning/afternoon and a security guard for the day.

Love you, miss you, always with you in spirit,

Charmer

Default I vot for the Origin start, hotel finish!

Start at the Origin and finish at the hotel would seem to be the most logical and simplest approach, but I live in Dallas so what do I know?
