Default Dumb Questions about your car

Beyond the "is it real" question, I thought it might be fun to hear some of the other dumb questions asked about our cars by the general public. So far, the most interesting of mine fall into the "what is it" category. So far, I have been asked:

Is it some kind of Corvette?
Is it a Miata?
Is that a Ferrari?

I am sure there are more interesting questions out there...care to share?

David

Rocksnake,

Haven't own a Cobra very long but I've never been plagued by that question... Seems that everyone knows what a Cobra is...
That was part of the beauty of it... (part of this is attributed to fact that it says COBRA on the plate and has a couple of snakes on the hood and trunk)
However, if they did think it was a Miata I'd certainly play along with that....

Talking My side logos should answer the question

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...t=1&thecat=500

They are just over the polished aluminum louvers (not yet installed in the pic) and they are ghosted so will be hard to see in daylight, from a distance.

1. Is that the same kind of car that James Dean was killed in ?

2. Will it burn rubber ? As many adults ask this as younger people.

3. Does it really have a radical motor or have you altered the exhaust to make it sound that way ?

4. Would it meet the Federal requirements for crashing into a wall at 20 MPH ?

A couple of weeks ago was the first time i had my cobra out in the public. The first person I was approached by asked if it was a corvette. After reading several posts about the questions one is asked about their cobra I just had to laugh. Bly.

We were rolling along at about 45mph in West Virginia one sunny Sunday afternoon when a Harley pulled up alongside. It was populated with two XX-large humans, apparently one male (driving) and one female. As the driver turned toward me and smiled, I noted an almost complete lack of teeth.

"Is that a Mustang?" he shouted.

"Yes" I replied.

Got a great one yesterday, this very large "Pat person" (male or female) said she/he had an "orginal" in storage in California and wasn't driving it because the 427 Chev engine was broken. LOL, db

A fella in a new thunderbird pulled along side at a red light on Hwy. 74 just outside Peachtree City, HEY!! is that a Jag?, I kept pointing at my ear like I couldn't hear him, he kept getting louder and louder, finally the light turned green thank goodness.

Had somebody ask me if it was an MG. I told him yes.

Talking Can I drive it?

The question most asked about my Cobra is, "How fast will it go?" The second most asked question is "What is it?" There are a few people who get confused with the Mustang Cobra when you tell them it is a Cobra.

The dumbest question that many people ask me is, "Can I drive it?"

Later,
Alan

Default Billy Derelict and the Stupid Questions

Ah the questions. From the is it real (the snub you when its not and get into their real Neon) to the know-it-alls.

I have had people ask me if it is a Miata, Mustang and Corvette. I had a know-it-all insist it was real, another insist that they only came with 427 and 289 and that there was only one type of 427. 'What is it' I have heard more than a few times. How much did you pay? Thinking that the Cobra was named after the Mustang. Thinking that since it is a 'kit' car it sits on a VW chassis. Where does the top fold into (IE where is the POWER top). Where is the grill. Man that is a small radiator (my oil cooler). Do those pipes get hot? Small trunk, where is the spare(maybe not so dumb!). Is that safe?

The list goes on. Some questions are not so bad. Curious, want to learn. Others are down right stupid. The one previously posted where a complete stranger said 'Can I drive it'. Man that takes a big pair!

Dumb questions... ah, I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can hear them again.

The dumbest one of all.......

"Is it fast?"

What do they think this is, some kind of rebodied Fiero?

Steve
