Wink Pat Green Song - reminds me of Austin Event

I have always liked country music and especially Texas musicians/song writers - Waylon, Willie, George Strait, Robert Earl Keene, Pat Green, etc. On the way to work this morning, the Pat Green song "Carry On" came on the radio and the more I listened to the lyrics, it really reminded me of the TCC Austin event last weekend and driving the hill country. It made me smile!!

Some of the words/phrases really applied - "tired of city bull$hit, getting away, backroads driving , hill country, top down, buddies from Tennessee coming down to Texas to drink with me for a while, tacos and beer"

I pulled the lyrics off Pat Green's web site below:

"CARRY ON"

Baby's just a little bit tired of the city,
Billboards and bull**** got her down,
Seem like you need a little hill country,
A Little backroads driving, little bit of the old top down,

Yeah, everybody gotta get away sometime,
Forget about yourself for awhile,
Seems to me that all you need is a ragtop car to ride with me,
Ok, alright, just might get a little high tonight ,
Ok, alright, carry on,

Ol' Walt Wilkins lives up in Nashville,
You know his eyes have seen the miles,
Walt why don't you jump in Jim T's caddy,
Come down to Texas and drink with me awhile ,

Yeah, everybody gotta get away sometime,
Forget about yourself for awhile,
Will go down to El Arroyo have some tacos and beer yeah
and let ourselves goe that you got your troubles,
I'm gonna make sure that you work too hard,
Ain't nobody that don't get tired,
Watch your troubles pile up big in your own backyard,
Sometimes you've got to grab your world with your own two hands,
Set it spinning off on a course all your own,
Take yourself a big bag for your shoulder,
Find yourself some good times, bring them on back home,

Yeah, everybody gotta get away sometime ,
Forget about yourself for awhile,
Lay your whole life upon a shelf,
got no one to blame but your own damn self, Ok, alright,
heaven only know what gonna happen tonight,
Ok, alright, I'm ok, I'm alright, I'm ok, I'm alright, I'm ok, I'm alright, Oh carry on, yeah -

Sounds like a good sound track background for a TCC video.

Thumbs up You Bet!

Now you know why I'm always cruising the "Texas Hill Country" and the "Devil's Backbone". Just to get out, fresh air, sunny warm days, get away from the city folks, park near a stream, hear birds and wind blowing throught the trees, feel a breeze, and see beautiful hills turn spring and fall colors.

I hope everyone enjoyed my spring meet cruise. Now you know why I love to cruise the "Texas Hill Country" and other back roads. We will do it again next year.

Ok...Ok...I hear you knockin'....

I'll see if we can work something out for next year...probably won't be a performance, but if he's in town, I can guarantee an appearance and/or maybe an acoustic performance by either Pat or Cory. Cory has driven my car, and Dave Osmar's(ren man) several times. He loves cobras. I think I'll block his calendar for next years event!

We did use renman's car, back before I had a cobra, in Cory Morrow's new CD/DVD combo that's comming out! It was used in a song called "texas time travelin'". Great song for cruisin' the hill country in your cobra.
