Guys
If we move the meeting to later in the year we will have to deal with the same or greater chances of rain. Usually in April and May you will have a better chance of thunder storms in mid to late afternoon, and you will have a hell of alot more bugs to clean off your cars. keep the meeting in Feb. It works now.

Lets keep this one one thread guys this is the third thread that has ended up talking about the dates. I do not know how to put these all together actually this is the thread we should keep just for the date or start a new one and lock these two.
Ryan, You are the TCC pres. Start a new thread and put in a vote for the date and whatever we end up with is in concrete. Dennis Mosely has posed a thought on the OTHER thread about only getting one vote I do not know if that is possible but it seems only fair to get one vote.
Ryan your up!

For my two cents........
worth I'm with Dennis Mosley and all the others that recommend we keep the date as is. I simply don't understand how anyone can argue with four consecutive years of simply beautiful weather on the day of the event!
As Greg so profoundly put it, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!".
Whether we want to admit it or not, as you get later in the year there are more and more schedule conflicts that have the potential to limit participation.
Nuff said!

OK,
Since we are on the subject, What would the pros and cons of holding it in the fall be? how does the weather trend on that
side of the equation?

you people are missing the point!!!! It aint the damn rain it is the temperature when it's raining. Move it to a much warmer month and the rain and possibly Wind will no be nearly as miserable. Whothe hell wants to freeze their ass off on the Friday night party session. Warmer weather is so much prettier and makes a hell of a lot more sense

Mr. Baldwin made me think of something else that might be relavant. Spring Break tends to be in March for most schools so doing it in March may be a problem with people having alternative plans with the kids. However last I looked at the poll March had no votes. Sounds to me like it's really between Feb and April. Personally Alan and I are liking April. But if it is Feb we'll be there and probably back down again in April anyway.

Since Ryan has started the poll, I will see if I can lock this thread down as per Steve's suggestion.
Steve, I don't care what those Dallas guys say about you...you seem pretty smart.....I guess I could be fooled though
Hopefully I can get this locked down before Steve has a chance to respond.

TCC Spring meet
Dennis,
I vote with the April guys. Warm rain is much better than cold. Austin is beautiful(and warmer)! March would not get the draw because of Spring Break commitments.

hey guys
a couple of thoughts on changing the date. personally i like warm weather and at first was for changing to a later date. something that nobody mentioned is that in april and may austin hosts many high school u.i.l. events, plus the capitol 10k run and it would be very crowded trying to squeeze in our event. also, being an old army aggie i like tadition, so lets keep it the last week in feb. dallas has something in may and i have my event in november and i think san antonio is planning something for september. so we have other dates and weather conditions to participate in. one last thought, the first three weeks of the month are set aside for car events by nearly all clubs. the last weekend is left open. for that reason this year we are having our mustang spring car show on the last weekend in april-april26. my .02 cents.
paul
ps replaced all the rocker studs, but thanks to the lovely weather we've had haven't had a chance to road test. gonna try today.

Out of towner's viewpoint...
Guys...if I may....I'm an out-of-towner who enjoyed the livin' hell out of you all and himself as well during your event. It was my first, and hopefully not my last....depending, of course, on when you decide to schedule it. But, there are other factors involved separate from the weather.
Superformance owners have a scheduled event in April, already. As a matter of fact, it's about 100 miles closer to me than the 653 miles I drove to attend your Austin event. In May, Superformance has a scheduled track event at Virginia Int'l Raceway in Danville, VA. Bottom line is that many of us cannot attend two events in the same month...there's more than just the car owners involved here....think of families, children in school, etc. etc.
Personally, I liked coming to Austin in February....that's always one of the worst months in Memphis weatherwise, so it's like a vacation break for me to leave our sh!tty weather to come down to your sh!tty weather! But, seriously, having the first scheduled event in the new year is something to think about, too.
BTW....Superformance also has a Fall track event, usually in September each year. Double Venom has his event in June.
So, if you're keeping score...April, May, June and September are already taken. February, March, and October are open right now. And October may be taken by Doug Reed's event he's planning. November gets into Thanksgiving, Christmas in December. January's too cold...period. February...well, there's this event in Austin.... March is still open. July and August is, too, but you all know how hot it can get then.
Bottom line....your best bet is February or March. I'd love to continue to plan on coming to your event...too much fun not to! But...don't let my preferences govern your choice....you guys have more at stake than do I....I'll do my best to continue to be there. But...if it comes down to Austin versus a Superformance sponsored social event, or a Superformance sponsored Track event...well, I'm sure you'll understand.

Opening my BIG ARMY Mouth!
Ok, Ok, Ok, Enough already.............
We are forgeting the one element that Austin event is all about, and that is the people. Screw the cobra's. I've been to all the events and this was the first with a cobra. I've met more wonderful folks in the 2 day events than I have in the entire time I've lived in Austin (3 1/2 years)
I drool over seeing all the wonderful cars, but I enjoy talking to everyone and seeing what they have been up to or what neat thing they have added to their car. Hell I even enjoy hanging with Mr Meadows.
Steve and the rest of you. I have faith that this will not get screwed up. If I had the helm I would say the First meet of the year is in Feb and its in Austin. So shut the hell up and happy motoring. But I'm not. SO I will tell everyone that no date is perfect, and void of weather problems. With that being said, This is not a life or death thing. There are people who right now are on the front lines keeping us safe and able to make fools of ourselves trying to find the perfect date, what car we drive, big block/small block......basically our freedom to chose.
So lets put an end to this silly bantering. We in Austin will continue to provide the best event of the year in FEBRUARY and support the other events that may pop up.
Sorry if I hurt some feeling, but hey $&it happens. I love all you guys like brothers. BUt enough is enough. February in Austin is like tradition. You know the Corps of Cadets, Bevo, Army beats Navy. Nebraska wins another Championship in FB.
Let the bombardment begin!
