I'll guess RallySnake's Arntz as oldest and Aggie427's ERA as second. Thomas' DAX is probably up there too.

Default DAX

John,
I don't know how old the other two cars are, but my DAX was built back in 1985 in the UK at D.J. Sportscars. They started building the so called DAX Tojeiro in 1983. My car was imported into Germany in 1994, where it underwent a major restauration.
So, all in all, the DAX is 18 years old.

Do we have an older one around?

Thomas

ERA #122 sold in 1984 titled in 1986.

If we could ever get Mark Winkleman to join his would be oldest...his was built in 1965 CSX something or other...hehehe

My Arntz body and frame were constructed in the early 70's, but I didn't finish the car and register it until 1986. It depends on which date you're looking for.......

This is a unique game and an enlightening bit of history for me. I have to tell you'll that the TCC sticker on my windshield gets some odd looks out here! I think you can see it in the following picture right in front of my son, Brian:

If I can pose a NON-trivial question here. Who is the father of the Texas Cobra Club? You know, the guy with the gleam in his eye who started all this? Or was it some kind of joint effort? I want to hear that part of the history.

David...you've been paying attention for a rookie. Yes, Matt liked the red seats......what Aggie wouldn't.

Thanks Paul and Dick,

Great story. Now, since Paul answered my question correctly, first, don't you get to ask the next question? Or does a referee step in here?

Question Well, I guess it depends!!!

Ok - this answer is harder to pin down than I thought. Paul - early 70's body/frame - driving in 1986. I thought that Paul's was the senior Cobra. Thomas - built in about 1985 - maybe the only TCC car driven by the owner in two continents. Thomas - how many countries have you driven your Dax through?? Matt looks like the oldest TCC car to actually have a Ford engine!!! Another veteran car (built by the owner) is Kirby Quirk - I believe he built his Unique about a dozen years ago.

Next?

Wow,
I get away from this site for a few hours of one day and everyone is getting involved, That is what this is for. Great.

Dick, Interesting your car had 21 miles on it...... Mine had 27 the third year. As for the newest Cobra that would have to be Boudy since he took delivery of his at the Austin event .... WITH ZERO MILES ON IT.

As for who started this shindig It was our very first question on this thread. Tom Meadows had the original idea and Stretch Williams was the first to actually register as a member. As Tom stated in an earlier post there were actually about 30 - 40 first new members, but Stretch was the first to register.

As for Matt, That one is iffy. I though the best part he liked about his ERA was he and Gary Morris first class to look at it at someone elses expense. From what I heard it was a drinkathon.

I think all the questions are answered that are posted above by others so I will again look for a new question

OK Steve,

You did say "anyone", right? There was a very unique hardtop on one of the cars at this years event. What was unusual about it and who makes it?

The hardtop was on your car Rallysnake

It actually looks like a softtop for a cobra but its made out of hard material.

No idea who the manufacturers was but is really cool.

Matt,

Nice try, but no cookie. Thanks for the compliments on my top, but it looks pretty normal. There was another one there that was REALLY unusual. (Hint, it did not cover the rollbar).

Bingo,

You're the winner, Matt! The next question is up to you. I'm checking out for the weekend. I'm off on a 7 hour rally tomorrow, wish some of you guys could be there, running up the mile high Mt Palomar course with me.
