Default Ronnie Reed

Last Friday night Vic and I had the pleasure of sharing dinner in New Orleans with Ronnie, Linda, Doug and Connie. During the course of dinner, drinks and award-winning Boudreaux and Thibodeaux jokes, I learned that not only was Ronnie's birthday on Sunday (yesterday), but he was also scheduled for cardiovascular stent revision today -- one of many surgeries that he has undergone of this type. As a matter of fact he jokingly called himself the "Stent King".

In usual comedic fashion, Ronnie joked with the doctor and taped his business card to his leg so the doctor would see it before he started the procedure. Unfortunately the stent perforated an artery, and due to the tropical storm, the hospital was unable to get a cardiovascular surgeon there in time to save Ronnie.

We ask that you send your prayers to Linda, his gracious, sweet wife, to Doug, Connie and their families in their time of loss.

Ronnie was a fun-loving, gracious friend to all who had the honor of knowing him and he will be deeply missed. We will keep you informed of the arrangements and wanted to express our sorrow to his family and friends.

God bless,

Greg and Vic

I've gotten with Greg, and he'll be sending flowers from all of us at The Texas Cubra Club. I know that several of you knew Ronnie expecially his cooking!
We need to pray for Doug and Linda, and hope that the good Lord will cary them thru this.
We'll miss You!

As I got the shocking phone call tonight from Matt, about Ronnie, all my memories of buying SPFs from Reed Performance flashed by me. Ronnie was so driven to make every customer happy and always took that extra step to please you. Just buying another Superformance in the past two weeks, I have been communicating with Ronnie a lot over the last month. Just finalizing my headers today, I called this morning and when there was no answer it felt strange - as Ronnie usually picked up on the first ring!

Ronnie we are all thinking of you tonight and you will be in our prayers..........God Bless as I know you'll be cooking up a bunch of that great food for all those race car drivers up there, welcoming you to heaven!!!!!!!!!

Smile OH LORD THY GOD

I HAVE KNOWN HIM FOR SUCH A SHORT TIME ... AND YET I GREW TO LOVE HIM FOR A LONG TIME. WHEN TOM TOLD ME OF THIS THREAD TODAY I DID NOT BELIEVE MY FRIEND FOR I KNEW THAT RONNIE WOULD NOT LEAVE US FOR A LONG TIME.

MY HEART IS BROKEN FOR A FRIEND AND HIS FAMILY.

IT ALSO KNOWS THAT RONNIE HAS REACHED THE GLORY THAT WE ALL STRIVE TO ACHIEVE.

HE TOLD ME HOW TO MAKE CAJUN FOOD, WE TALKED ABOUT ENGINES, DISCUSSED RACING AND TRACK AND CONDITIONS...TIRES AND MOTORS.

WHEN I DIALED 1-800-29 SNAKE I KNEW WHO WOULD TAKE MY CALL IF EVERYONE WAS BUSY. THERE WAS AN UNSPOKEN BOND THERE...ME, NOT A CUSTOMER...JUST A PERSON...RONNIE, PART OF A GREAT THING, WITH ONE OF THE BEST HEARTS....

I DON'T NORMALLY MOURN. I HAVE SEEN TOO MUCH DEATH. BUT IN RONNIES CASE I MOURN AND IT IS DIFFICULT FOR ME TO TYPE THIS.

IF IT WEREN'T FOR MY BELIEF, I WOULD BE REALLY SCREWED UP NOW,,, BUT WE ALSO TALKED ABOUT THAT AT LEAST ONCE AND I KNOW WHERE HE IS NOW.

I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE PLANS FOR I PLAN TO GO TO HIS FUNERAL OR MEMORIAL SERVICE.

ANOTHER ICON HAS LEFT US TO GLORY AND I AM NOT SAD BUT LONELY.

JAY

Unhappy We have lost a good friend!!

What a shock!!
I have known Doug & Ronnie Reed for a bit over three years now, and was well aware of his heart problems. I got the call from Tom, and heard the news about 15 minutes ago. I just got off the phone with Doug, and passed on the condolences from my family and from the TCC family. Greg, Doug is aware of this thread, and he thanked you for it.
For those of you that knew Ronnie, you know he lived his life to the fullest, for he truly knew ever moment could have been his last, and he lived his life accordingly.
We are all better off for having shared time with Ronnie Reed, and he will be sorely missed, but will be remembered with a smile and a chuckle.
God Speed to you, Ronnie.

Gary has just informed me of the loss of Ronnie Reed. It didn't really hit me till I was typing Doug a personal e-mail. As I began to tell Doug that we would pray for peace and understanding for this loss only then did the tears run. We are so very sorry for the loss of our friend, Father, husband and Brother. He will be deeply missed by everyone. Please pray for Doug, and his family in this next week of your prayers. Drew & Michele.

Ronnie was as much a part of the Texas group and anyone could be. I am glad to have known him and happy that I was able to see him again in Tulsa this year.

Ronnie we love you and will miss you more than words can express. I know that you are in a better place. Someday god willing I will join you some good food.

Matt

Default Link that works

Sorry about the photoaccess link in the previous reply that didn't work. Here's the correct one to see Ronnie having a great time at dinner in New Orleans Friday night. We were so honored to have been there to share that with he and Linda.

Unhappy Ronnie....Ronnie.....Ronnie....

Words cannot begin to express my sorrow at hearing this terrible news. In fact, as I type this, my tears are streaming down my face...what a terrible and tragic loss we have suffered. Ronnie was a true gentleman...funny to the end, I'm sure, and willing to take nothing too seriously. He'd give you the shirt off his back, but then tell you it really looked better on him...he was like that.

God...I miss him already...

Doug, Linda, if there's anything we can do...please don't hesitate to ask. Please let us know when the funeral arrangements are completed. I'll do my best to make it down there....

A bright light has been extinguished, but a new star has arise over the Crescent City.... May God bless the memory of Ronnie Reed, and have mercy on his family. What a tragic loss to us all....

I feel very fortunate to have known Ronnie. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet. A few of us spent quite abit of time with the Reeds while at Tulsa weekend before last. Ronnie fed and entertained us and made us feel right at home.

Very difficult to put into words how much he'll be missed.

God Speed Ronnie.

Doug-at a time like this words seem inadequate to express our sympathy to you and the rest of Ronnie's family. He was a breath of fresh air to any group, and to put it simply, he was a good and decent man. He will be missed. Angioplasty is not usually done without adequate surgical backup promptly available. Let me know if I can help in any way.

It's so hard to put into words what I feel as I think of the love and friendship that Ronnie has put into our hearts. I've only known him and Doug for 3 years but felt as if I had known them all my life. I had the privilege of assisting the Master in preparing the feast he cooked up for us in Tulsa and how we joked and laughed about the secret recipe....as most of you know I always had my head in the pot when Ronnie was cooking. He was always full of life and lived it to the fullest. As my tears cry out as to why......my faith reminds me that the time will come when I will see my old friend again. Ronnie....don't make em laugh to hard or feed them to much. May the Lord comfort your family and friends as I know you had many. I Love you and will miss the way you touched my life.

Default Ronnie, we will miss you

Words can not express the shock and sympathy we feel for the Reed Family at a time like this.
I just received an e-mail from Reed Performance, and couldn't comprehend what I was reading. I came to CC to find this thread, and my heart dropped like a ton of bricks. I can only echo the sentiments and sorrow expressed in the replies before this.
Ronnie was always a joy to talk to over the phone, and I learned he was even a better person upon meeting face to face at VIR.
Doug and family, please know that your loss is shared my the many his life has touched. May God bestow upon the entire Reed family a special blessing and grant serenity and understanding at a time like this.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you,
Terry and Carol Lee
