Default TCC In February

Forgive me for jumping the gun on this, but is the Feb date set for our annual meet in Austin? Also, are we going to the same hotel as last year?

I hope the answer to both is yes. The hotel seemed to work quite nicely.

Post Current Plans in the Works

Should be the same game plan as last year.

Same hotel, group photo at the hotel, and morning meet at Origin parking facility. (We need Snake Charmer to get permission again.)

I'm planning to have lunch/brunch at El Arroyo's on Bee Caves Road. (I still need to talk to the El Arroyo's management.)

http://www.diningoutwithrobbalon.com...oyo/menu1.html

Then a short poker run around the Texas Hill Country: RR12, loop around Wimberley, RR3237, RR150 to Driftwood, RR1826 to OakHill, then MOPAC back to Hotel. (I will post everyone later on my final plans and maps.)

Dinner at the hotel/adjacent restaurants, and TCC evening meeting in the hotel parking lot.

Question

Not to throw a wrench in the cogs.....

Wasn't there a concern last year about the number of cars on the parking garage (structural integrity) in a localized place ? If we stay at Origins next year then we will probably need to have the cars parked in the marked spaces (as engineered). Then there becomes the issue of the group picture... Where

I am no engineer, so someone else should make the call. I just remember the concern of the garage floor "when it stopped "bouncing".

Otherwise, I think it was a good plan last year and enjoye dit very much. Now all I need is a car for next year.

Yeppie

Hey I still am without cobra but I sure like this trip.

Ryan
If all is the same you are TCC prez again? And we can't have a prez without a cobra. So you need to buy a new one before selling yours!

Post Issues still being reviewed, for now:

Group picture will be at the hotel parking lot for now.
Alternate group picture sites currently being reviewed.
(We will update site plans soon.)

Origin parking will be in marked spaces (as engineered).

The hotel would probably let the photographer on the roof to take the picture... or use one of the upper floor balconies

Good thing about the garage parking. I deal with concrete every day and yes it is supoosed to give in that type design, but not that much. Taking pics from Engineered parking spaces is good, and could save us from a terroristic looking event!

Little less worried Steve

Cool TCC in February....

You say it, and I'll play it....I'm plannin' on bein' there unless some unforeseen happenstance comes up...

But, while we're discussing ideas and so on...may I ask for one little thing...?

Please....please.....PUH-LEEEEZE....can someone see what they can do about the monsoon before the event...? I mean, it was all fine and dandy Saturday last time...but I drove through what appeared to be the SECOND 40 days and nights storm. I mean, I saw two different guys who were gathering animals together two-by-two ... and one have them had even finished his ark...! I had always heard you Texas boys were right particular about your sheep...now I think I understand why 'ewe' boys are like that...?

Post Pay As You Go

Again we are planning a "Pay-As-You-Go" Spring Meet.

I believe everyone should pay $2.00 per person to cover the Origin Parking Security costs. Everyone can pay when picking up their name tags and packets. (200 members/visitors = $400.00)

SnakeCharmer- please advise if amount is sufficient.

Ed--Awesome. Had a blast last year..looks like 2004 is going to be just as smooth, and just as much fun!

question: If everyone enjoys this so much, why do we only do it once a year? Why can't we get together 2-3 times a year, minimum? Even if it's at the same place? Of Dallas...or Houston. and grow 2-3 events to the size of the austin one?

Default Hey Guy's

Yes we are concerned about the Load on the parking structure, we are planning on parking in the marked area's, the only reason for going to Orign is tradition, we'll meet there visit or BS for a while then continue on our Poker run. We should end up at the hotel for dinner and BS.

Let's try this, see what happens, go from there.

Freddie, I'VE GOT THE WEATHER ON SATURDAY, Friday I'm not sure, I'll have to talk to the Big Guy upstairs, I'll let you know!!

Look forward to seeing everyone in February!!

Thumbs up Early planning is the key'always!

David,
Way to go in posting the topic. I agree, I think a lot of people voiced concerns about the number of cars im the garage, and to take it a bit further and since we have outgrown the garage, WHY even go there? The benefit of having everyone parked together will be lost and since we seem to be planning the picture at the hotel, why not keep it simple and just start and end the poker run there? This takes the pressure off Stretch and we can use the donations elsewhere. I do understand tradition, but who wants to park underneath without benefit of the security?? Not me.
Steve, remember our first president- Stretch- didn't have a Cobra so that should be a non-issue.
Blake, we tried early on to have multiple events a year, with one here in Dallas and Paul's in Corpus( we didn't have anything going on in Houston at the time). What we found out was as we moved further away from the center of the state in any direction attandance suffered, so we decided to just hold regional monthly meetings and keep the integrity of our yearly event in Austin.
These are just answers to questions posed on a rather slow day at the office.
John Russell

The reason I wanted some early info is because some more out-of-state folks would like to join us and obviously, the more time they have to plan, the better. I'm ready this weekend or anytime!!! I think we should get together more often but some are afraid it may "dillute" the enthusiasm. I say BS!
BTW Paul Cass's deal in Corpus is a great time! I went last year and I'm gonna be there this year. Anyone who can needs to put that on their calendar.
Personally, I don't think we should bother with Origin, but I'm game if we do!
Tony Mendez! When's your party? There's another excuse to get together!
BTW John, there's still not much going on in Houston!

My guess is that Tony's September event, CobraStock, will draw significant participation from Dallas, Houston, Corpus, etc, and will become the "mid annual-event event". We'll even have work being done on one Cobra (mine), cause I'm planning on bringing my welder and commandeering his lift to build my custom rear suspension, for which I've had the parts for over a year now.

Cheers,
-Neil.
