ASSUME
"You can lead them to water but you can't make them drink."
Last year I "assumed" that everyone could read the instructions in reverse to get back to the hotel.
Also I "assumed" that anyone with the map could find I35 from the Grist Mill (a couple of miles east) and take I35 back to the hotel.
Well you know what "ASSUME" means:
Make an ASS out of U and ME.
This will not happen this year, I promise. But, all bets are off for Flyin- Freedie and Doug Reed.

Okay..okay..OKAY!
While we're 'fessin' up for past indiscretions, Ed....I made the mistake of 'following' someone else on our way to the Grist Mill, leaving my 'cheat sheet' at the hotel. My bad....no doubt. So, I had no directions to follow actually in my possession when we got to the Grist Mill. Then, we missed the caravan leaving to head back to the hotel....again, my bad.
Won't happen this year. And I plan on having my cell phone with me....again, left at the hotel last year.
Y'see? We DO learn....slowly, mind you...but, we DO learn.
But...that MOPAC deal....!
Hope you didn't take my criticism in the wrong vein....I certainly meant no malice, and apologize if I was too critical. Come to think of it, if we hadn't gotten lost, we wouldn't have the "Dougie's New GPS Story" to tell! ...and Richard Price and I have looked back and laughed our asses off at THAT one...! It was one of our highlights from last year's event!

Yeah...what Matt said....we were following the KING on what was descibed as the "GOOD" Roads...you know the ones with the most construction and gravel......but I managed to make it back with only a couple of nicks and a cracked headlight . This year it's strictly freeway comming back to the hotel.
Is it time to leave yet??
