Its just me and maybe I hold a grudge too long but the guy that does alot of this Steve Sanderson is a jerk and I won't go to anything he hosts anymore. After having an event and going out of his way to alienate the Dallas Cobra group he can take his attitude and shove it.

Hold on fellow venom fanatics.....I don't know the history of anyone else's experiences, other than my own...and they have been very positive. I personally believe that all Cobra fanatics are basically good folks, whether they own (possessed?) originals, genuine, kits, or home-grown versions, or are still panting....so unless I have been, or one of my buddies has been blatently humiliated or taken advantage of, then I hesitate to bad-mouth anyone to the general public. I am a mechanical laggard, and nearly everyyone in the Club has forgotton more than I will ever know about these ear-splitting, leaky, smelling, MONEY PITS....and I LOVE every second of my time, and $$ spent on the Silver Bullet. I also really like the people I have met in the TCC...and look forward to meeting and going to events where other Cobras are. I am a little shy with a flasy Cobra (maybe a Clark Kent wannabe?)...but the same as every other member. Remember, the pants all go on the same way...so take is easy on Steve, as I know him to be like many others I know, like, respect, and wish them all to do well. Pressure can cause people to later regret a remark or action, that may not reflect accurately one's true, long-term feelings or beliefs. Steve helped me select, produce, get comfortable with, and get involved with my Cobra..and for that I am thankful. Businessman, seeker of profit, competitive...you bet....not bad objectives, in my opinion. Remember, our hobby and passion....is his WORK....so his perspective is different than most of us.
I do know this, you cannot make everyone happy all of the time, and I am sure that Steve is no exception. But from experience, Steve has treated my moments of apprehension..like a professional. I have purchased one vehicle (and 1 guitar!) from Steve, and I would certainly purchase another, if he had what I wanted.....BUT NO MORE GUITARS!!
I apologize for my lengthly post, but when it is all said and done, your reputation will be what you were...and Steve may not be perfect....but I would suggest that if you have a beef...try and resolve it. If not, keep it to yourself.
Anyone who went to the Unique/Sanderson event(s) this weekend had an absolute ball...Shelby included. A great family event!! NTMC worked their rears off...maybe we should have, too?? Next year we should be taking the initiative, IMHO.
Good luck to all...as our temperature gauges drop 10 degrees!!

I will give you guys the run down on the event that really put the torque in me and some others in the Dallas area. Like I said others can forgive and forget I can't.
Now understand there are many of us that can afford any car we want but chose the car we have for one reason or another so don't take this as bashing CSX4000's....If I wanted one I would buy it from Mitch in Oklahoma.
Almost a year ago Sanderson was having a "Charity" event at Texas motor speedway....and it was touted as a Charity event...bring the cars listen to a good band and have a good time.
Letters and information was sent out to all the car clubs...NTMC and SCAT as well. Bring anything you have vipers, panteras, Shelbys, mustangs, shelby mustang Clones...."NO Cobra Replica's". You read that right in the flyers he wanted no "Cobra" replica's there. You see he was having a sales pitch of the 4000's and wanted no competition anywhere near his cars (or he just doesn't like us who cares)
I am not on here to defend anyone or smear anyone...I stated my opinion and say have fun if you want to go I won't.....And you as a business man should realize that reputation is everything. I am very glad that you had a good experience with Steve. Great speak volumes about him when you dealt with him.....
I just state the facts and as I put it I hold a grudge...others might not and thats their choice....make the decision you will but I have never heard an apology...lots of talk of one...lots of talk of making it up to the Dallas TCC group....never anything done.

Nice to see your post. Was at the event with KMP 142, and it was great see you there.
Never asked you..are you a TCC member? This is a very active club with some great people in it, and all are welcome. Not sure of the origin of the comments regarding Sanderson, but these are real Cobra enthusiasts, very inclusive, and we have a lot of fun.
Look forward to seeing you. Email me when you get a chance.

I certainly can respect your opinion and position. Only in America can we always say what we feel, have fun exceeding 100 decibals, and when the noise dies down have a cool one together! In that order!!

I made it out there for exactly 35 minutes. Just to get my Cobra scrapbook signed. Unfortunately about 150 people got in line in front of me. Fortunately John Ross let me talk him into standing in line for me since I had a prior committment I couldn't get out of. Drinks on me, buddy!!
It was a gorgeous day and an interesting (and huge) collection of cars. I didn't get to the back corner to see Ray Russell, Bud Man or the mystery red car. But standing in line as long as I did I had a good view of class BB "Cobra Replicas" which were surprisingly front and center.
My dad and brother were able to make it too (sorry to any of you my brother actually spoke to) and my dad was still talking about MirrorMan's polished aluminum one at lunch today. How do you impress your dad as a Cobra owner? Hang out with other people's cars.
It was a beautiful day for a show and I got the distinct impression that Unique and the GT35/500 club had way more input than Mr. Sanderson. Or maybe he's finally getting the picture that we've got several multiple Cobra owners floating around and we are obviously the easier sale. It's not should we buy, it's which one this time. (Can you tell Alan was shopping at Doug Reed's mobile showroom in MS???)

We drove over and spent the night to take in the grand opening.
It was really nice. They put all the Fords out front, the Chevys around back and I think i saw a couple of Ferraris and a Lamborghini on the side when i was leaving. It was very well organized. I am not slighted that I have a "replica". They are all replicas of something. We have "all ford" car shows and I hope the corvette people are not upset. Factory Five has lots of events that exclude the Shelbys. They are Factory Five only, like the upcoming one in Vegas. No skin off my nose. I figure when I am excluded it is so I can spend time with my family and enjoying MY vehicle. I hope the economy picks up soon so I can swap out my backup 4 cyl 3.6 in my cobra for that 427 I am putting together. If it doesn't I will just have to add NOS and run with the rice burners. CS did sign my Snell helmet. The trip was worth it!

Some of you guys may see some humor in the following events, so here goes.
I took a new beautiful Blue Superformance car to the show last Saturday, and entered the car show without an engine. A couple of guys stopped by and told me that they couldn't vote for my car because it didn't have and engine or transmission. I told them it was exactly like it came from the factory, completely original.... LOL. Most people thought it laughable, some didn't, personnally I think they need some help. ( Way to serious for me.)
The next thing I did was have the glovebox signed by Carroll himself, and he signed it upside down. I thought long and hard about leaving it upside down. But I cleaned it off and sent it back one more time and we got it right the second time. Anyone need a Superformance glovebox signed by CS ??
Still grinning about the weekend. Later, db

At least your car had an excuse for not making any noise....no motor = no snorting! The Boss 429 (with motor & transmission was quite a sight, being PUSHED into the line-up!!

oh my cobra makes noise, i have FLOWMASTERS hooked up underneath to the 4 cylinder motor. the side pipes are FAKE or should i say replica.
my wife asked me to quit referring to the Ferraris as Italian Mustangs as the horse is rearing up instead of the Phillip Thomas Clark running horse on the Fords.
as for the other foreign cars in the show, I rode the short school bus and i don't want any car i can't spell the name of.
oh well back to the garage
