I think there IS a limit of ONE PER FAMILY...
No, You can''t use different names at the same address to get more than one. You'll get caught.
Don't do it!

and for $93K they didn't even get it right. The 65 R model did not have rear quarter windows (they had a block off plate) and the 65 did not have rear brake cooling scoops. See this web site: http://www.classicdreamcars.com/65RMODEL.html Both the window and scoops were added in 66.

It was my understanding that the car at Barrett Jackson was bought by one of the partners in the company. Just a $10K marketing fee

Casaleenie,
Sheesh, I don't even know if they will sell you one; that might just be the "unlease" price.

Let me think? For 93K should I buy a replica Mustang or a GT-40? Pretty easy answer for me. For 93K why not buy an original GT350 R model.

The "Elenor"(spelling) I saw on Barrett-Jackson went for $185K earlier this year in Arizona. They mentioned the buyer was a doctor. Is this the partner?

I'm sick to my stomach
I had a '66 GT 350 (red, white stripes) that I bought new in '66; cost was just under $5,000 as I recall.
Sold it in 1970 for $1400 just to get rid of it. Nobody knew what it was. It was the time of Hemi's and BB Chevy's - nobody wanted a SB Ford Mustang.
$93K ??????????????????????????
Excuse me while I go barf again.
Live and Learn - I guess

More like a $28,000-$32,000 car at best.

Baldwin- that's funny.
On a side note, did anyone see the article in this month's Mustang Monthly regarding Shelby's guitars? Apparently he has a couple of different model guitars and has named one model "427 sc" and the other "289 FIA." If he's not going to let others use those designations for their kit cars, at least he could use them only on his cars.

James, I personally am more thrilled at the prospect of having a crack at a new Shelby Lancer Turbo created from a "garden variety" Lancer. Perhaps Dove will begin casting new blocks for the venerable 2.2 engine?
Seriously, at $93K, you're not far away from the lower end of the price range for a CSX2000-series Cobra ( I think one went for about $130K last year). Mustangs are nice, and Shelby Mustangs even better, but I know how I'd spend my money (if I had any )--

$93,000......for that 2+2?? MA PLEASE!!!!!!!
How much longer will it be before we see Shelby selling his products on the Home Shopping Network???
I guess George Foreman beat him to the grill!!!
Just imagine what the world would have been like if Shelby was asked to do the promotional ads. Nearly every household today would have a white grill with blue stripes running down the middle of it!! THE ULTIMATE GRILL WOULD BE DESIGNATED AS THE SUPER... (fill in the blank) and would only cost 5x more than anything else like it. :-)

In all fairness to Mr. Shelby, I don't believe the he personally came up with the GT-500E (Eleanor) and GT-350S.R. idea. I think it was a joint venture of Unique Performance (builders) and Sanderson Sales (marketing, P.R.), and that Carroll Shelby was just approached by either or both parties about putting his rubber stamp signature on the products.

What a bunch of wussies!
You are the people my parents warned me about.
The same people that bought the 66 mustang for $1500 and scoffed the idea of paying $6000 for a new Cobra CSX.
Like Carroll Shelby said, "cars are made to be driven"
it's all about your ride and not about the money.
how many of you guys will never own a vette because it costs two and a half times as much as a family sedan? nothing to do with it being a chevy, that's a cop out.
life's short, drive fast

Hi all
Here's something I over heard at the Run N Gun last month.
I was standing next to two enthusiasts who were looking at a South African car called a 'Backdraft'.
The car was very competitive and these two guys were both keen to get a close look and to ask the obvious questions of the driver and crew who were working on the car.
"It is handling fantastically, what's the suspension"? "What diff are you running" etc etc.
The questions just kept coming.
A few minutes later the same two guys were standing behind me at the hamburger line and their conversation went something like this.
"I like that 'Backdraf't car it handling like nothing I have seen.
That Shelby I have is great but...."
On they talked "I wish I had just brought something like that a car that has all the late model technology at a quarter of the price".
He was more than happy with his Shelby and went on to say it was a good investment but...
"I should have something, that I can just get out and have fun in". they continued.
Interesting... when you have what everyone may aspire to have you are not happy, but just appear to want something that you can get out and have fun in.
It was clear to me he had a CSX car but wanted something that was competive and would be up with the front runners.
He had the genuine thing but that was all it was - his quote.
They went on for sometime talking about the advantage of ownership of the genuine car but seemed to not be convinced.
"You know when Shelby goes or finishes up that car will be worth a fortune". he said.
Me, I just wonder why he didn't buy a piece of furniture or some other antique.
Me, I would be happy in the Shelby. Driving it and having fun.
Cheers
Bernie
