Is this how Texas gets by without a state income tax?

Default Brett

I have mixed emotions because we allow people to ride without helmets and make people wear a seatbelt. I wear mine and so does my family, however as a police officer I feel it is the choice of the driver. Road rage, red lights, and drunk driving are examples of traffic violations that can hurt others not in your car. Seatbelts only matters to the one not putting it on. I agree with you that the operator should wear them ( I make that assumption since you put that your a trama m.d.) but is it our job to make you wear one? Just a question. Some say yes some say no. That is why I have mixed emotions on this. I see both sides of the argument. I'll keep wearing mine.

Default state income tax

No state income tax because we have "robin hood" school finance system. 63 million dollars last year paid to the state from the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD alone!!!! CFBISD is cutting back on services due to robin hood. What a Joke !

Sweeny ISD is also one of the "Robin hood" schools and we are now broke! Having to lay off teachers and cut out programs for the students. It sucks

The law about moving over or slowing down did not come from the fords blowing up, it has been introduced before and not passed. The law is to curb the number one cause of officer deaths, traffic accidents.
Todd,
I'm sure you are right, but I have to wonder why it was brought up and not passed before and now it was. I truly hope that it was truly for officer protection but my faith in the state legislature's motivation is somewhat lacking these days.

It's not the intent of the law I was questioning, just the timing.

To everyone else:
If your city PD has the Citizen's Police Academy program, I strongly recommend doing it first chance you get. I just 'graduated' the Garland PD CPA before Thanksgiving and I am so glad I spent the 12 Tues nights doing it.

I know our class really grilled the Traffic officer who came one week to speak to us. I learned the truth about some myths (like local PD can't pull you over on a hwy - BS. Ours has a grant to cover both 190 and I-30, similar to click it and ticket Todd was talking about).

And bonus for me was on my ride-along pulling up on a fellow Cobra member just heading on to 190. Although knowing my DH was out of town and my car was supposed to be safely locked in my garage, seeing a blue and white Cobra flying down the road was a bit startling.

But I have a new appreciation for our PD and the officers and the laws they have to deal with.
