Post Ford/Shelby Cobra Coming Soon!

Anyone watching the new show "Rides" on the TLC channel last night? They had an hour special on the build of the Ford/Shelby Cobra remake. I still like the old 1960's AC look. These modern designs don't appeal to me. I guess I'm getting old.

----------------

"...Texas muckraker and racing legend Carroll Shelby re-teamed with Ford to create the concept Shelby Cobra -- a "minimalist" muscle car with no radio, roof or cupholders. But it's got plenty of juice: A 6.4-liter V-10 with a shocking 605 horsepower and a 190-mph top speed. On the fleet heels of Ford's $139,995 GT supercar, a reborn Shelby might seem a head-scratching proposition, at least in terms of the business case. But Ford officials hinted strongly that a version of the show Cobra could emerge hissing into dealerships at some point in the future..." - Lawrence Ulrich, Money Magazine, as reported on CNN

fuel

The car as shown on rides will never hit the market. They said it would run on 106 octane fuel. That means it has a compression ratio of near to 13 to 1 or more. Compression means horsepower, They may drop the compression to allow the use of 93 octan. If they do this you would see the hp around 475 to 500 range. With 500 hp and 3000 lbs it will be no match for the original

my 2 cents

I think its Butt Ugly! They did mention the 106 octane was for the gear heads that like the smell, yeah right!

I take concept cars with a grain of salt, most likely what you see is not what you get. I like the looks of my 40 year old styling much better.

I did like the part about the Shelby cars, that was cool.

Now where is my racing fuel?

Randy

Talking 106 Octane

Are you calling Tom Meddows a gear head? Funny thing, now that you mentioned the fact, I've seen Tom sniffing around his Cobra every time he comes to Austin.
