Cool Texas Motor Sports Hall of Fame

This past Tuesday, we were fortunate to attend the Inagural Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame Banquet at the Speedway Club at Texas Motor Speedway.
Additionally, we had the opportunity to display one of the Panoz Racing School cars and our Superformance demo car right at the entrance to the club. (see photo below)

Brendan Gaughn was honored as the Texas Motor Speedway Racer of the Year

Gil de Ferran was honored with the Sportsmanship Award

Carroll Shelby was honored with the Bruton Smith Legends Award

And both A.J Foyt and Johnny Rutherford were the first Inductees into the Hall of Fame. Two good Texas boys. A.J. couldn't attend.

It was a nice event, especially with the old man in attendance and a nice Cobra Replica sitting at the front door.

That's too cool Jim....thanks for the pictures. I had inquired about the event but when the lady quoted me $175.00 for a ticket I rather quickly changed my mind.

Question Old Man

When you mentioned the Old Man in attendance, where you referring to Don Barnes, or yourself??

It sounded like a lot of fun, I remember watching AJ, and Johnny both race.

Tom,
With you claiming not to be 85,that presents a whole different problem.

Being as sensitive to your feelings as I know how,You really should put in a whole lot of effort into getting alot more beauty sleep then.

Sure hope that Jim Hall and the Chaparral ( spelling ? ) have been honored, the 65 & 66 that raced in the Can-Am series

Don't feel bad Fred....even "Royalty" gets cranky as the years start adding up . the Royal one may not be 85 but 70 something isn't far off

I was invited to the event. Texas NCRS made a donation and was allowed 10 tickets, I'm membership director and Board members had first shot at the tickets. Unfortunately, I had to travel out of town and my plans could not be changed. I heard that it was a great event. I would have brought my glove box door for a Shelby signature and I heard Shelby was offering autographs.
I even would have been willing to pay the $100 he charges.

Gary,
I think you are correct.

I thought The Royal One might be a little sensitive about this.
I just didn't realize he would be so cranky too.

My suggestion concerning him getting alot more beauty sleep was just meant to be helpful.

If not for himself, for the rest of us.

I guess this falls into the leading a horse to water type deal.
