Cool Caravan to Austin From Dallas - TCC EVENT

Ok,

Normally Tom or Gary takes care of this but its my understanding they are leaving way way way too early for my taste to get to Austin and setup the parking lot in preperation for the big rigs.

I have seen a couple of people posting about doing a caravan down to Austin...so I will head up the charge this year.

In years past we have met in Cedar Hill off I believe (Bobby help me here) Hwy 67 at the former KMart Parking lot..there is an IHop and Whataburger for breakfast.

Plan on leaving at the traditional time 10am...I will probably be there by 8 but getting that far down and out of the city with cars and trailers is a B*&(#.

So 10am we leave from the parking lot and do the caravan thing down to Austin...if you have a multi channel radio please pipe in...we try to have one for every car so we can schedule gas stops (usually in Waco). We should be to Austin about 2-2:30...no speed challenges just a nice cruise down at about 70mph...lots of fun and keeps us together if we have any issues.

Here is a picture of 2 years ago (if I can do this) let us know if you plan to caravan so we kind of get an idea of who will be there.

Matt

Thumbs up Way to go, Matt!

Matt,
Way to go in setting this up! I also believe I see Dick Fleshers Unique in the picture, and I think that is Clois Harlan in front of you with the hardtop.

Matt,
Let me and Drew know what time you are leaving the north side of Dallas so we can follow you. I need to talk to you about loading some tools into your trailer before we go.
thanks

Default Where in Hillsboro?

I'm coming down from Oklahoma City Friday morning. I don't know if I will be there in time, but in case I am, where in Hillsboro is everyone gathering?

Just in case I end up bringing up the tail by an hour or two, you might make a note of my cell phone number in case I need to stop and help someone. It's: 405-623-2690.

Hopefully I'll be there in time. How fast are you going to drive?

Thanks,
Rocket Man

Default caravan timing

With the info I got from Matt... He says they are leaving Cedar Hill at 10:00: that will put them into Hillsboro about 10:30. Hillsboro is right at 50 miles from FW, so I figured we would meet at the rest stop in Burleson(its at the south edge of FW) and leave at 9:30 and that would be just about right. We can pull off at the first exit in Hillsboro and just wait in a parking lot until the Dallas guys come along. We'll be keeping up with them by cell pho. My cell # 817-800-8974. If anyone has a better plan, please share.
Ted: we generally drive at the speed limit.

Ray,

That sounds like a good plan, I'll be coming from the west side also. See you there.
