Will the weqther hold for TCC?
Well here we are staring the date of Feb. 27th down, and the weather so far this week for Austin and Texas has kinda stunk. I would hope that we get good weather for this weekend but they are calling for 20%-30% of rain begining some time on Sat and rain for certain 40%-60% on Sunday. I know that Thurs, and Fri. are suppose to be good days for travel to and show up time for tailgate at 5:00p.m. on Friday. Who ever is in charge of taking care of the weather we may need some more convincing from with the man upstairs. I will do my part and hope that doesn't encourage the weather to turn worst. Oh well it is the TCC right! We don't care about some stinkin weather and rain it will just mean that we get to spend that much time with our cars when we get them back home.
Count Down: 49 hours and 45 minutes till meet time on Fri. at 5p.m. C-Yall there!!!!!

I've driven both my GT40 and my Cobra in the rain and am pleased to report that neither melted, and that the residue came off rather easily with water, car wash soap, and a sponge.
We don't need no stinkin' weather!

The Big Guy say's " He won't rain on our event, He might even let the temperature get a little higher""!!
The Royal Rhubarb
I'd bet that The Royal One lowballed his forecast and that it will end up alot better than anyone is expecting at this time.
Time will tell.

My Old Motto!
Don't worry about the weather, just get here! It's the fellowship that counts! I say that to everyone here in Austin every month, it's the fellowship that counts.
My old motto: Rain or shine, cobras or no cobras, the meet is still on!

I need a rebutle statement!
I sit here in my humble pie and ask for the forgiveness of all those attending the TCC. I have read the recent weather forecast for our region and have taken in to the correction of Mr. Garland and he is right it looks good for Sat. Thank God!!!! The Mrs. was saying that she wasn't going if it was raining. Thanks now I have to bring her along for the ride. NO just kidding. Yes at other local sites like news8austin.com and kxan.com and kvue.com and fox7.com all have it partly cloudy with highs in the mid 60's and a slight chance of rain 20% towards the evening time frame into Sunday. I stand or sit realy and correct myself. On another note if I can't get my speedometer up and running I may need some advice at the rally on what is up. I noticed the needle wasn't moving one afternoon and so I got to investigating the scenario of problems it might be like. 1. I disconnected it from the reverser on theSmith gauge and drove to see if the cable was spinning. No spinning so I knew it was the cable. I replaced it from a 55" inch cable to a 60" cable and re-installed a new tranny gear at the same time a pink coded gear with 19 teeth slanting from the left to right. IT worked for about five miles and then nothing so. 2. I then order a new cable and go through the process and replace the cable but before I do this I pull the speedo from the dash and mount it to a work table with the reverser on it and then hooked up the cable and gear and hooked a battery powered screw gun to the gear. It ran smoothly everything was turning and so I taped the gun so it could run for five minutes so I could see what was happening at 5 miles and this time it did nothing. So I re-installed all the stull the speedo, cable, gear, reverser and headed for the house thinking evrything was great I was a mechanical genius. RIGHT about 4.3 miles into after going a set of railroad tracks slowly but steadly(7mph) I noticed the speedo wasn't working anymore after going over the tracks. So I pull over and look under the car and then disconnect the cable at the reverser and drive and it is turning so I am baffled. The only thing my local McGyver could come up with is that the plastic gear in the tranny isn't snugged in the slot enough and it gets in a bind when rattled and then the cable turns out the plastic square upinside the gear and then the cable doesn't turn anymore correctly. It will turn with pressure on it but while floating in the sleeve it doesn't turn at all. SO i have ordered another gear and will double check the lock down nut and bracket on the cable when re-installing it to make sure it is tight and snug. Does this sound like I am running up the right tree with this proble?

Downtown,
Your speedo concern is very common in a SPF. I suggest two things:
1. Make sure the cable is not binding or have a real shape hard
curve in it while routed from the trans up to the speedo head.
2. Take the speedo head out and spray some WD 40 in the gears
and I had to do that with my new SPF # 1543 to get it working.
Good Luck...........See ya in Austin!

Don't worry young'ns...
Last year I was more than a bit skeptical as we were putting the car in the trailer in pouring down rain, and then reading where Ray Russell Wet-vac'd gallons from his car after his trip down. Alan had to do a bit of convincing for me to believe we could have a good time in pouring rain.
Well, I have to say that the party in the parking lot in the downpour was quite fun. And you really get to know folks when there are about 40 people under one tarp.
But Saturday arrived with gorgeous weather and we both got sunburns.
So don't fret, this'll be great no matter what. And you have to learn to trust the The Royal Purple one. He's got some kinda pull upstairs.
And the Big Guy did hold off the "Great Texas Ice Storm of '03" until Monday, so I expect no less this year.

Fret not my friends - I talked to a guy who's neighbor lives down the street from a guy who's uncle used to be a weather man. He said "chances are, we'll be ok". Sounds good enough to me.....

Weather Looks GREAT
Every source I go to looks really good at this point for Friday and Saturday.
It's going get chilly (40's) late Friday night so everyone bring a good winter coat for the tailgate party.
Also, a good hat would work to keep your head warm. Contrary to what Purple Royal Vegetables and Crazy Cajun's think, UNDERWEAR does NOT keep your head warm
Get ready for a FUN TIME!!
