Post 2004 Spring Meet Survey

I hope everyone had a good time this year. Again I would like to thank all those who helped this year.

I know the 2004 Spring Meet could be improved, and it takes support and recommendations from all TCC members. Please let us know what we can do to improve our 2005 Spring Meet for next year.

Suggestions for improvement:

Event Registration Forms
Hotel
Group Photos
Digital Photography Services
Cruise Routes
Lunch Restaurants
Awards
Raffles & Door Prizes
Etc.

I know we can't satisfy everyone, but we will try our best to improve on "things" for future meets.

Thumbs up Can't think of a thing!

Ed -

Like I said in this thread, my wife and I had a great time!

The drive, the food, the staging area - everything was great. My only regret is that we didn't find you, Gregg, Stretch, and everybody that put this together to say thanks in person.

Thanks again,

JLW

Ed,
I think everything went well for the type of weather we had. You did a good job assembling the cars for the group picture. Heaven knows it's hard to get 90 some cars organized.
Had a great time and look forward to next year. Best thing about this meet was I got to meet a lot of people face to face and they are all great guys and gals that share a common interest.

Great Hotel, Great People, Great Event......wrong time!

Guess I'll be the one to open this up again................as I would like to do this event when it is warmer and more important, when the trees are full as it would be a much prettier drive down through the hill country!

Any takers yet?????????????\

Left at 7:00 am and hit a strong storm just north of Waco.......

I'll be Gary's counterpoint, Event time is fine. Everything else was great as well.

Only suggestion for the event would be to have the times posted somewhere for the raffle and stuff so people can walk by and know what the schedule is and if anything has changed.

For those that want a warmer weather event, I think it would be great to have more than one event. so we can keep our standard Feb. meet and add another. That way we get to see each other more often.

As usual, great job!!!

Dennis.

I have to agree with you. that's a good plan to have a second event later in the year . We enjoyed the week end and all great people, super cars.

See everyone next year

Default It was great- as usual!

OK,
Here are my thoughts, said after another great event!
1. Event registration forms- Good idea! I think this could be
generated as an on line sign up by someone with that
experience.
2. Hotel- So far, this one is still the best one we have had in
the 5 events, and they want us back after two consecutive
years there. Done deal.
3. Group photos- I think due to our increasing size this will be a
continuing problem, and will only get worse...leading us into...
4. Digital Photography- Well, we tried this new guy, and I am not
impressed. I don't think he has it "down" yet, but he missed a
LOT of cars in both his action location areas, seemed to be
uncomfortable in controlling the group picture situation, we
have a group photo predominately white background and a
small elongated rectangle. This is a no vote for a repeat.
5. 6.7.8. All were good this year, but the idea of posting drawing
times is a winner.
9. Etc. I do agree with Gary S. on considering a later date fo the
event. I believe holding this in the spring when this stunning
area is in bloom and the weather is warmer would help us
account for the "no shows" from the 92 confirmed and our
actual count- somewhere around 77 or so. I think somwhere
around 4 to 8 weeks later could provide us with a much more
successful event- numbers wise, and a truly stunning cruise.
The hill country is one of the most beautiful in our State, so why
not take advantage of it.
When Coleen/Ed or whoever has the membership packets that were not picked up we will have a better feel as to the percentage that did not show, which will certainly be interesting.
This is just my opinion, and this was an overall winner because of the people that did attend, and will come back next year, and the next year........

My family and I all had a great time! The date is probably as good as any. I will attend anyway, but if it is a month or two later in the year, there will be whining about this conflicting with sports and other useless activities.
I still think we should get together quarterly, not annually.

OK 2nd reply, I agree with David and John about warmer weather. I didn't bring it up in my first post cause I didn't want to open a can of worms. Dennis M has a good idea for a second/third event during the summer. Maybe keep the Feb deal and them maybe do one a little later. Maybe Corpus, San Antonio,
Dallas? All places would be great.
Here's a little something to think about. I can get a somewhat good deal on wristwatches with the Cobra logo. What price range would you guys like to see and afford. Do you think we could sell 50 within the club. Maybe even have TCC on the dial also.
Just something to think about

My Family and I also had a great time. The thought of more meetings/events will work for us. We don't have a conflict with our sons events anymore, he wants to go with us to the events. Great Job to all who worked to put this together. THANKS.

This was our first outing with TCC. I was truly impressed with all the fellow club members and their families. Everyone was truly nice and seemed to be having a wonderful time. Got to meet a lot of nice people in person instead of just on the club forums. There will never always be a perfect time for any event, this one actually went off very well. Though a second outing, well you got our votes for it.

I tell you what....Austin is the best place...its central so to speak to everyone and has a wonderful view when you cruise...I can throw up a suggestion....

1. Do the drawings at a set time and don't change it...if people are wandering around...they lose out...we lost alot of people that left Saturday night.

2. Picture Dude does not work for us. Now I have to contact him to get another 8x10 because I was one of the first ones and he had the event logo with College Station as the city...NOT impressed

3. Lets do 2 events next year (if we can) seperate by like 3 months I just can't get enough of you guys!!!!!

One in February and one in late April or May! I will help plan one of them.

Matt

I think moving the date might be a problem.. Lets look at a couple things and you can see what I mean. If we move to the 2nd or 3rd week in March. We have Spring Break for the kids. Easter is in April and may School starts to wind down with Memorial day.
Let us not forget the racing alot of you folks do during the year.

Personally I think the end of March would be better. But hey I'm there no matter what.

To all TCC members, from your most senior, I mean Major, or is it the longest out of state member. Anyway, as many of you know, I'm long on opinion and short on words. Had a great time as always with everyone. Nice to see and meet the people we post with. Greg, good to meet you finally. Anyway, my thoughts are:
1. Hotel is great , book it for life. Can't get any better, except keep the bar open to 1.
2. Move back a little to a little warmer weather.
3. Photos were the clearest I've seen. Barnes had that right, he is good. But did not have any of me. Or any of the first 1/3 to leave after lunch. Needs more photographers on the course.
4.Admin stuff like forms, I'll leave to the experts. I did not have a problem with this system, but I was a receiver not a doer. Do not know what happened behind the curtian.
5. This is a selfish comment. Have a driving thing for those of us who get there earlier on friday. Freddie and I drive 25 hours to "event" for 40 hours including sleep time. I know, this is our problem. So I'll live with it.
6. Have someone else in charge of plagues. I know why I have never seen Tom or Johns name in the credits as comedy writers.
(Love you both)
7. Name the sat afternoon cruise the Ronnie and Dick or Dick and Ronnie Momorial Cruise. I make the motion, since we have quorum. I think my friend JR will second.
8. Don't change a damn thing, I'll be back next year regardless.
Richard, see you in Tulsa.

Matt, I need to print this thread and frame it...you got a picture that said "College Station" instead of "Austin" on it and you're complaining?

This was the first year I came up the night before, and it made a great event so much better. I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to talk to so many people for an extended period of time, and also to see Gary Morris so loaded that he was wearing a short-sleeve shirt in 35 degree weather and talking about how warm he was

I wish I could have stayed over Saturday night, also, but that's something to work on for next year.

The one point I would make was that I really enjoyed the poker run we did the first couple of years, not because of the poker part, but because it provided a way to continually regroup the cars into large clusters, which makes the drive that much more enjoyable. I realize that, with around 80 Cobras you're never going to keep the group together, but this year we were two of the last ones out of the Marriott parking lot and we were never in a group of more than six or seven cars. There's nothing like seeing a long line of Cobras ahead, and many more in the mirror...

From the packet standpoint, I've got a few ideas:

1 - Make generic packets without raffle tickets in them. Have the nametags in alphabetical order in an "index type box" and hand them out as they pick up packets. And give out raffle tickets as we give the nametags so we aren't wasting time calling out a bunch of numbers that were never picked up, and so everyone who comes actually gets one as opposed to someone who registers the wife and kid and just brings themself.

I had about 20 packets leftover from folks who registered and didn't make it but I handed out all the blanks and still needed more so I raided the ones from people I was pretty certain weren't going to make it, but I was still handing out registered packets at lunch.

2 - Include the agenda that we had posted on the board in the actual packet so we're all on the same page. And if there are any changes (kept to a minumum) post in a central spot and at the elevator bays so everyone has a chance to find out.

3 - Maybe include some close by restaurants, Starbuck location, gas station on a separate sheet for those who aren't familiar with the area.

4 - Include information that we'll have a photographer, and how and when we'll be able to view photos and order them.

And a non-packet suggestion - give out some door prizes on Friday night. Maybe after that cruise that Richard Price will be organizing for the Tennesse crowd.

THANKS For the MEMORIES!
It was a wonderful weekend.
We need to vote on a few things as a group.

Donna and I did not decide to come down until we heard the weather report on Thursday. The front had stalled and the weather would be dry for Friday, Sat and Rain again on Sunday.
There were 92 pre registered and about 15 no shows, I would guess half due to the cold weather. We waited to drive back until 1 on Sunday and did not catch the Rain until Corscicana. The last three hours driving home really sucked. It was raining so hard you could only see the 18 wheeler in front of you. It is 6:45 am Monday morning and it is still raining out there, and according to the tv will until at least noon. My vote is to move the weekend up to the Friday Sat before March 17 (st. patricks day). We have been celebrating St. Paddy's day since I can remember and it always falls in the Middle of LENT. before easter. We have to party every year while we are fasting. I never recall the weather being bad, not like February anyway.
If you book a Caribbean Cruise in August you will more than likely run into Hurricane Weather. Book in April or May and the chances are pretty much NIL. What I am saying is Feb is our Cobra Hurricane weather and two weeks later it is practically NIL.
I have heard all the excuses about spring break, baseball etc. Our spring break at BPCC is first two weeks of FEB so we can go snow skiing in Colorado. We spend about 500 to $1000 when we leave for the weekend and it would be nice to be able to spend some time looking at your beautiful cars. I am not a waxer or a multi car racer, but I know the expense you have tied up in your cars and it would be nice to look at them in the sun.
I took over 200 photos and will get them up tonight on CLub Photo. you can do a search on tgdg to find them. The lighting on Saturday was flat because we had no sun. You can download these for yourself or have club photo print them for you. They will print up to 16x20 and still look good. I have not printed any larger than that yet. The 1600x1200 resolution is Olympus and their JPG compression is better than most others. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I DID NOT KNOW there was a professional photographer on the premises and my apologies to him. I just love Cobras and took these for my own pleasure.
sorry this was so long,
Donna and I will be back, we had a blast.
