Houston Bluebonnet ride 3/27/04
At the Houston meet this past Saturday we talked up a cruise to see the Bluebonnets. I was asked to get the ball rolling and start formulating a plan.
Everything but the date is flexable at this point. I suggest that we meet at Willie's Saturday, March 27th at 10:30am. We can take a north west route to Brenham and do lunch there and then drop down and pick up 90A below Columbus or Sealy for the route back to Houston.
As to the route to Brenham, I need some of the locals to chime in and suggest possible routes.
And if someone knows of a nice place to have a picnic lunch along the way, we can do that instead of lunch in Brenham.
Just my thoughts. So who wants to go and please chime in with your thoughts.

Hopefully by then there will be Bluebonnets! Last year rainfall was way down but had considerable amounts late.
You may be disappointed by going so early.

I'm in! I'll check my Texas atlas tomorrow for some route ideas.
This should be a blast.

Hey guys,
Check the date. I had to edit the post when my wife enlightened me to the fact that I had put the wrong date
The correct date is Saturday March 27th!
Dennis, no need to be scared I told you that The Orange One ("Hooters" to you) forgave you, so you can come out and play
src11, Thanks for the help! Post some info when you get a chance

OK Houston bunch, need to start hearing from you all if you're planning on going Saturday. If there isn't any interest in going, then I won't need to come to Houston first. I will head up 36 instead. I'm kinda like Kountzy, I live 60 miles from Houston down in Brazoria county.
I had to go to west on I-10 this past weekend and the Bluebonnets and wild flowers are out
Kountzy, you in? Can't wait at home every day for Turk to hand deliver
How about Rick and Boyde (sp)?
scr11, you still in?

I'm In!
Kelly,
I am looking forward to cruising with you on Saturday. Looks like Dorothy or Patrick will be my co-pilot. (Actually, for part of the cruise I may be the co-pilot. Gotta share!)
Looks like we may need sunblock. Current forecast is partly cloudy with a high of 87 degrees.
Just a thought on the route. I hate driving through Richmond and Rosenberg on 90. As an alternative, from Willy's we may want to take 90W to 359N to 1093W to 36N to Brenham. I know the roads up to Fulshear and they're fun in the Cobra. I've not traveled on 1093 between Fulshear and Wallis, where we would pick up 36. It is not the most direct route, but we would avoid all the lights in Richmond and Rosenberg on 90.
Any other Houston area folks interested?

Kountzy, I figured that you would be in Is grannie going to come to the rescue?
Rick, I haven't been on the roads that you mentioned, but I have drove the one from Fulshear to Wallis. That route will work for me Why don't we plan on you taking point leaving Houston since you know the roads. And then you can brag that you were in front of The Orange One for a change

Kelly,
I sent an email regarding Saturday's cruise through the Houston Cobra Club email group last night.
Ken Smith is also planning on joining us, but Daryl Landry cannot.
I read the replies quickly, but I think David Shelton would like us to plan the next cruise farther from his home, in fact the exact quote was
Is there any way y'all could plan a cruise farther away from my house?
... and I think Dennis can't join us because he has to wear a bikini somewhere. His quote was
passengers will look better in bikinis than I
I don't want to know anymore!
Anyway it looks like we have 5 confirmed so far: David, Scott, Ken, you and me.
I expect Boyd and Emily to also join (but Boyd, I ain't pushing you to Brenham!)

Sounds like a plan, I'll see you guys at Willies at 10:30 or before. I like the idea of going the back way north of Richmond (past the Swingin' Door?), nice drive. I may not make the return trip (I'm working on a "better offer" from a friend near San Marcos), but it sounds like a blast.

I'm still in. I haven't checked the atlas yet, but whatever route we take is fine with me. Also, Dennis said he'll buy everyone's gas. So David, don't worry about the miles......
