Thumbs up NASA Race @ TWS

There is a NASA race this weekend at TWS for the FFR Spec Racing Series. We are supposed to have at least 4-6 Cobras there for the race.

My car is there, now if I can just make it up I will get to race it for the first time.

Any one interested in see the car run ought to try and come up either Sat or Sun.

Regards,

Terry

Well the race weekend is over and the results aren't pretty. We had several good practice sessions but in the first race on Sat. we began to notice a little smoking coming from the new engine.

Did some quick fixes and was ready to go out for the 2nd race of the day. Made 2 laps when we became a moving Mosquito Fogger. Brought the car in worked on it to get it ready for Sundays race when we discover some interesting clanking noises coming from the last cylinder on the drivers side.

Packed it up and brought it home today.

Tomorrow we will place an "emergency call" in to our engine builder to try and determine what went wrong.

I keep ya'll posted when we find out what went wrong. Car handled very well and did everything we had expected it to do with this one big exception.

Terry,
Sorry to hear your outing wasn't what you hoped it would be.
Dunno how much help I could be with fixin' yer car, but I can consume large quantities of alchoholic beverages(for medicinal purposes of course) and stare at the car with you.
Moral support like this is a tough job, but I serve proudly.
LOL
Keep smilin

Matt
P.S. You have to fix the car-you still owe me a ride!

Matt,

Hall your Medicinal Alcoholic Consuming Carcass over here and I will put it to work with the tear down.

Then you can be assured of getting that ride!

Regards,

Terry

E-mail me some semblance of directions and it is very likely that I will soon darken your doorway.

Even though the engine was acting as a portable Mosquito fogger...here's a couple of pictures before it let loose.

David,

The next NASA Spec Racer event is June 5 & 6 at MSR (Motor Sports Ranch) just outside of Ft. Worth.

Hopefully it will be back together by then and maybe this time it will last more than 6 laps.

Gonna call you tomorrow.
Gotta go house shopping with the Mrs. in the a.m.
You free in the afternoon? Maybe I will bring my Shelby over.
(She's not quite 3).
Tough to find freetime when you have young'uns, but they are worth it all.

Hey Matt,

I have to do my radio show from 10 AM-
11:30 AM but should be home by noon.

Give me a call and drop on by, I'd love to see you and of course you can "bring your Shelby".

See you later today

Hi Mike,

Looking forward to meeting you in June & July at MSR. Thanks for the nice compliments on my pictures.

Do you have any of your AI Mustang that you could post or send to me

I am a BIG MUSTANG fan. As a matter of fact I am trying to talk a good friend of mine out of his 350GT R Model clone so that I can vintage race it.

See you soon.

Terry

Here's a link to some pics at MSR from last year's NASA American Iron races:

http://www.bns-racing.com/95ai.htm

Some from last August, again at MSR:

http://www.bns-racing.com/MSR%20080203.htm

Car has been modified somewhat since that time, new front splitter and a few other odds and ends but you get the idea. Guess we'll both be out there in the close-wheel race group?

Mike,

Thanks for posting the photos of your car it looks really good! Very simple and clean. I like that!

How does it run compared to Richard Dickey's Camaro?

Hope to see you at the track.

Regards,

Terry

Ahh, you mean the evil white Camaro? LOL, kidding. My car turns comparable lap times to Rich, but is driver limited to say the least. Rich and I had a memorable battle last March but he outdrove me for the win. We were both turning 1:23's and 1:24's that weekend in the CCW direction.

I haven't raced him at TWS yet (I missed the April event due) but judging from his lap times on the CCW 2.9 I'd say we are on par there too. I'm working on tightening the nut behind the wheel.

I think he's done this once or twice before.............

That would be the one!

Sounds like you both are pretty evenly matched! Good times on the short track CCW direction.

Oh yeah! Rich and I have had some really good races in the past too! We used to race Showroom Stock B together years ago. He ran a Chevy Citation and I ran a Shelby Dodge Charger. Good clean competition and lots fun in those days.

Terry,

Missed you at the event. Just saw your thread about the Cobra for sale and the bad back, sorry to hear about both. FWIW, we only had one in our run group, a beautiful blue Cobra #55 driven by Jack Tunnel. I didn't get a chance to meet him but was admiring his car when the opportunity presented itself.

Best of luck with the car sale and your back!

Hey Mike,

I was hoping to make it to the race at least as an observer , but couldn't get a replacement in time for my Sat. radio show.

I'm looking forward to meeting you at the next TWS event.

Jack does have a very nice car, doesn't he! He has been trying to sell his too with out much luck...so I hope I am able to turn mine relatively soon for what I need to get for the car.

Thanks again for the kind words!

Regards,

Terry
