Tony, South beach Diet. It works. I'm at 250 from 283. Headed to 220. It took me years to build this gut, may take a while to get it off.

Tony, I sent you a private detailed message -- my wife and I have lost weight, gained muscle tone and kept it that way for four years.

Talking South Texas Diet!

Tony,
I fully agree with your diet plan.
The only carb that really matters is the one under the hood of your car.

You shouldn't be doing South Beach if you have high cholesterol.

Best rule of thumb is:

1 - exercise....cardio for 30 min 3 - 5 times week, superset weight training for 30 min, 3 times a week
2 - eat nothing white...bread, rice, etc, it is processed. eat whole grains instead.
3 - always try to include vegetables in each meal
4 - Make sure your proteins are higher than your carbs at each meal, minimize sugar
5 - Eliminate all saturated fats and fried foods.
6 - limit/eliminate alcohol

I am losing 1 pound a week of fat following this plan and building lean muscle.

MUSTANGMENDEZ
These other diets work to bring your weight down (temporarily) before it shoots back up! try something that really works. Back to basics!!!

This is not temporary. It is a whole lifestyle change and I did it myself and know several others and they look and feel better than ever! I lost 28 lbs from 212 and gained 10 lbs of muscle. I feel like a teenager again!!!

I go back & forth through about a 5 year cycle (driven mostly by work). I get back into shape by working out and eating right for a few years and then invariably I do something dumb like change jobs or start a company and my schedule is blown.

Every pound of living tissue (muscle) will burn roughly 30 calories a day just by being there. Add 10 lbs of muscle and your metabolisim will be more active to the tune of ~300 calories / day. Couple that with some sort of cardio and watching what you eat and you can hang in there for about 3 years before you start noticing the lbs coming back. To maintain 'fighting weight' you need to be more careful, but I find this cycle works for me.

Get a bike or treadmill for home and a gym membership. Set yourself up to make the exersice easy because that's the key to losing the weight. Cutting back on intake is only about 25% of the equation.

Good luck Tony!

I've lost 120lbs since last March. Was 340 now 220.

It's my own plan and works for me. Eat right during the work week and have fun on the weekends. About 6 months in and down about 50-60lbs I started excercising. Playing hoops once a week, and I bought a "Total Gym" for $200 and I use it 3-4 times a week for 20-30 minutes at a time. I too have gained considerable muscle and dropped a whole hell of a lot of fat.

I'm a fast food junkie and nothing has changed there, but I order the low cal/low fat stuff for dinner. For lunch I get a chicken sandwich or a Boca burger, or salmon or something like that, take vitamins, and all has been good. Feel better than I have in years!

Weight Loss, SLOW method----- Eat Less.
Weight Loss, FAST method----- Eat Less, Exercise More.

Weight loss, and weight gain, (barring rare medical problems), is strictly a calorie-management program.
If you eat more calories than you burn off, you gain weight.
If you eat LESS calories than you burn off, you lose weight.

You can still eat your favorite foods, desserts, alcohol, etc, but consume them in smaller, less-frequent quantities.

Default The concept is simple

Calories IN, Calories OUT

If you want to eat healthy in the process that's up to you.

But it comes down to working off what you eat. That from a professional nutritionist I worked with. Honest, for a race, I was on an 8000 calorie a day plan and lost 30lbs. It just required an exercise regime 16hrs a day long....for two months.

: )

Default weight loss plan

I spent my whole life fighting this battle. Have lost 100 lbs at a whack 3 times and eventually gained it back. Last year after acknowledging the total physical decline at age 57 (Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, enlarged heart w/diminished capacity, Hiatal Hernia, high blood pressure and cholesterol, lots of huffing and puffing).
I finally after 2years of research and procrastination submitted to a Ruen Y Gastric bypass surgery on Sept. 15 2003. I have lost 112 lbs (287.5 then, 177 now). I have completely eliminated every weight related medical issue 100% and returned to agressive skiing again this past winter for the 1st time in 4 years.
Diabetes, gone, Apnea gone, B/P 105/55, heart normal size and function, Hiatal hernia, gone, $10,000 worth of clothes, gone.
Waist size down from 54 to 34,

BUT and I do mean BUT, this has been so much more unbeliebable difficult that I ever anticipated and continues to be so. I HATE FOOD! My "new" stomach's capacity is 20 -25 cc and if you try to fill it or god forbid over fill it, you will pay dearly. This has not changed more than a little.

I do not reccommend this procedure. I am only sharing my experience. Don't do it for cosmetic reasons and even if medically indicated, think long and hard before letting anyone tell you that it is anythiing less than the toughest thing you will do short of submitting to a beheading by some Iraqui extreamest.

Anyone that wants to contact me privately is welcome to do so, but other than this, I prefer to not make a public show of my experience.

For the past year I've been doing a 30 minute cardio workout 6 days a week and for the past 4 months I've added a 40 minute weight workout three types a week. It's become a ritual, first thing in the morning, really get a sweat going. I usually drink 20-30 oz of water during the workout. Muscle mass is slowly building. If I could just drop the belly fat I'd actually start to look pretty good.

Weight? I've lost 30 lbs over the past year and am _slowly_ loosing more weight. Biggest problem is that I still like to eat! Oh, and giving up smokes didn't help with the food intake either.

Hmmm... smaller portions, the 8 oz. fillet rather than the 16 oz. Maybe that'd help!

i think the best weight loss program would be to get behind david sheltons cobra and try to stay up by running. You will either loose weight or pass out.

My weight loss was 25lbs this year had to with type 1 diabetes and bad diet. drop all the bread, fries, and anything that taste good lol built me a garden and wash the cobra every week and walk mowing the yard. i hate to exercise and run so make up for it by working.
Before i started the adkins i went to my doctor and made sure i could handle this with diabetes it work fine wife tried it but could not do it. So whatever you do to loose weight it has to be right for you. let me know how it goes.

Ya'll going to hate me ........

I'm about 175 and seem to be able to eat what I want and not put it on, but I do watch how much I eat. Don't exercise as much as I should.

To all of you working hard to lose - I say well done and keep it up. It isn't easy but the results are very much worth the hard work. How many years does it add when you lose spare weight ?

What is it worth to feel so much better ?

Congrats to all.

regards
Doug I

Default Conjugated Linoleic Acid

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA). Do a search. It works! All natural. All healthfood stores have it.
