Yellow Rose Car Show
OK, I'm looking for an excuse to come visit with my Texas friends. I missed the Tulsa event, and I'm not happy. What about the Yellow Rose car show. Can we do a Cobra Corral, with a bunch of Cars. I'll bring a coupe and a MKIII, but I'll do display only as I don't want to steal anyone's thunder this showing their car. Let me know.

Yellow rose is really a different kind of show Doug...not many from the group participate....if you want to get a fix..you could just come to the monthly meeting

It's in Ft. Worth at the Amon Carter building August 13-15. It's air conditioned and lots of fun. Susan and I usually work this show since we are members of the host club. As of last week there are no Cobras entered at all. I can give you contact info if you like.

I'll be there again
No Cobras entered as yet? Oh yea, I still have not sent in my application until I know that weekend is free, which I now know and will enter.
The Texas Cobra Club has made a large showing in the past, and has put on a very impressive display. Wish the club could make a showing as a club event again.
The Yellow Rose Ford Nationals (indoor, air conditioned) car show is growing in size, last year splitting up the Cobra class into production and kitcar. To win best of class, the car needs to be immaculately clean --- one year I lost Best of Class and took 2nd place because of one small carbon smudge on the underneath of one of my sparkplug wires. The judges are really supposed to judge at a distance of a few feet from the car, but that year they took out flashlights and looked all inside the engine compartment to break the tie. If enough Cobras show up like in years past, there will be more than one award for the class.
BTW, does anyone have any stanchions I could borrow for the show?

No go
Can't do it all.... Is the car show on saturday or sunday??
I could maybe come hang out and visit a little on Sunday afternoon, that's about it. Where, Gary, will you and Susan be?
Alan, thanks for the info! How many cars (altogether) approximately participate? Are they all Ford powered?
thanks, Kristen

As of last night I was told that the show is full with the exception of maybe a vendor space or two. Too bad Kristen as I found you a space within our club display if you had decided you could do it. There are usually around 200 cars, all Ford powered.

I'd like to.... I get to be the lucky hostess of a wedding shower/luncheon that Saturday. Out of my hands.... Will try to come by, tho'. When will you be there? Where do I find you?
Kristen (I've got to do something about those sidepipes before I do another show, for sure!!)

Kristen.....The sidepipes will be easy to paint. Let me know when you're ready and I will assist
Alan....Maybe someone will cancel and you can get in. Ought to be at least one Cobra in the show. I do hate to tell you though as far as the judging goes we are NOT supposed to judge from a few feet away. This is about fit and finish and the judges can get as close as they want to. We are encouraged to bring our flashlights so we can get in close and see the detail and or the places some people miss. I am a member of the host club and have judged the class before.....when I have not been entered of course.
It's always a good show

My girls here say ..'get your priorities right
Kristen,
Now I see why you cannot make it?
Now Kristen you cannot make it for the weekend as your the hostess for a bridal shower/luncheon???
Now what's a girl to do? Leave her friends and the male strippers, fine food and beer join a few guys talking cars.
Think the luncheon and male strippers will win.
I can see you are missing out there, with the guys there at Hooters and all.
Go for it girl.
My girls here agree do the luncheon and the male strippers anyday.
Cheers
Bernie

you're good, Bernie!
Hey, Bernie! You almost make that shower/luncheon sound fun!!! In reality, it will be 30 oldish ladies scrutinizing this young bride, determining if she is "appropriate" for the groom, who is a friend of ours son. The wedding is set for October, so the decision is of course already made, but oh well, need to check her out anyway. (I've been to dinner with her and groom several times, and she's pretty fine looking, BTW)
So, no strippers or beer. Just a nice Wine & Cheese Party with all the trimmings. I can sneak away early evening Saturday, or Sunday morning/afternoon if GARY WOULD TELL ME WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO BE THERE AND WHERE THEY WILL BE !!!
I bet, tho', that the couple's parents might be staying with us, and consequently we would be entertaining them Saturday night, (and that's when we'd break out the G and T, beer, etc.!) They moved quite a long ways away (still in Texas tho') and they were great card playing friends! We'd play cards or dominoes for hours. Miss them, and glad they're coming to visit. But all in all sorry to be missing the car show. I CAN COME SUNDAY, GARY!!
gotta go! Kristen

Well let's see now. I might be on isle 2 looking at cars...or I might be on isle 10 looking at cars....but then again I might be sitting down looking at cars.........I wonder around a lot. Susan is usually at the club table where they sell T-shirts....or she might be out looking at cars.......that's why we have cell phones. Call me or Susan when you get there and we will give you a personal escort. Normally we are there from opening to close on both days. Sunday afternoon can be slow as the awards presentation starts aroun 3:00 and the show is over at 6:00 so come as early as you can. For more info go to www.ntmconline.org
See ya and have a "lot" of fun with your shower. I'll be having a blast!!!! I'll make sure if there are any cool items that the vendors bring I will pick them up for "me" hehehehehe
