17" wheels/tires for SPF
I already want to put wider tires (315 or 335) and upgrage to 17" rims on my soon-to-be-mine 2000 SPF that already has Wilwood brakes. Won't be autocrossing or road racing, mostly weekend cruising redlight to redlight. How do you measure backspacing and determine what wheel do you need? Any SPF owners have this wheel/tire combo? Don't want the tires to hit the fenders. Any adjustments to the shocks needed? Are Trigo's the wheel of choice? Thanks for any help anyone can offer. Garage is clean, get my baby in 3 weeks and I already can't sleep!

Given your earlier build number, you will most likely only be able to run 315s. That is what I've been told by SEVERAL sources and your build sequence is not too far ahead of mine. The newer cars can handle the 335's, but let me also tell you that they are a tight fit.

Miles,
I'm running 17's on my SPF #1938 with 315's on the rear. It will handle 335's as well. I have PSE Engineering wheels and all fits fine with no adjustments needed. Look in my album for some photos.

Miles, I am running that combination- & have been!
Miles,
I have been running that combination on my car with PS Engineering wheelsand 335's on the rear for about 5 years or so! I am currently on my third set of rear tires , but the fronts are still in fine shape. I intend to make the monthly meeting at Champps on Las Colinas today, and will also be in Austin at the end of the month.
There are quite a few SPF's around with this set up, come take a look-see! I also have pictures in my album.

Superformance now makes their own 17" wheels available for sale from Dynamicmotorsports and their other dealerships. They are the same as the 15's in almost every way and you know they'll fit properly. I think they are around 1500 with tires. I don't know how big the tires are, give them a call. Aron Dellinger

17" Wheels
I have SPF 1176 and the car has 335 series on the rear. One caveat--when superformnce started to produce their own wheels they changed the size of the rear pin adapter. They have since gone back to a standard depth size. I had to get another set of rear adapters and I believe they are about 1/2" shorter in depth. I believe this change may have effected 3-400 cars. 4.25" depth versus 3.75" or something like that. The original wheels (earlier cars) will have cobra II stamped inside the wheel, the later wheels don't. I have the PS Enginering wheels. If I had to do it again I'd get the other manuf. wheels (he posted here I think). Their wheels are one piece and lighter in weight -- I'm sure someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Just bought a 2000 SPF #709 that has 17" PS Engineering wheels. Running
11's in back with 315/35 and 9" in front with 275/40. I need to replace two of the wheels and all four tires. I posted a thread earlier (now lost due to the computer screw up) and many people recomended the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires. Bought the new PS Eng. -most people love these wheels- wheels and Phil the owner told me that the price of aluminum wheels would be going up for all mfgs as China is buying up all the alum. they can. Scrap alum rose from .33 per lb to .56 per lb. China will continue to be a source of problems for us Americans for many years to come.
