FYI IH-35 Closure in North Austin!
Saw a sign on I-35 yesterday that said "I-35 closure, 3/25/06 -
3/26/06" This was northbound around the Grand Ave Pkwy exit, don't know if this includes the South Bound as well.
Those coming to Austin might need to watch this area.

When I-35 is closed, the traffic (both directions) is diverted onto the access roads just north of Lous Henna or 1325 and re-enters the highway ~1 mile north of Grand Ave.
The traffic on the access road between these two points is horrible when I-35 is closed. In addition Louis Henna (1325) is closed over I-35 (the bridge). If you are coming from the south (I-35 north) you will have to exit 1 or 2 exits north of 1325 and loop around.
If anyone has anymore specifics, shoot.

Thanks Lew.....my comment was a joke. I35 often seems to move like it is closed near Austin.

Austin Traffic
JD that wasn't a joke, but the truth. AUstin traffic is a nightmare. We might have to find a new spot for the photo shoot.

hmmm. Coming from dallas, how close to the hotel is the closure?? I can't remember the exits/numbers for the hotel..... will look it up later..... will we be diverted to the access road before the hotel, or right about at it, or is it closed further south, but backed up to round rock??
gosh, I hate the thought of being diverted while driving the big truck and trailer.

From Dallas the closure will force you onto the access road right at the exit for 1325 and back onto I-35 just south of 1325. I don't know how far north into Round Rock the traffic extends however getting to the hotel from the access road should be fairly easy. It might be easiest to follow the detour onto the access road and turn right on 1325, after that you can make another right on La Frontera Blvd. and there you are. If you get off one exit north of 1325 (Hester's Xing & Mays) you will have to contend with traffic waiting for the light on the access road.

I do know northbound really stunk last Sunday 3-19!
Greg,
I took my daughter, Lyndsie, back to UT last Sunday, and I noticed those same signs! Boy, once we got to Salado the traffic almost stopped and we had to take extreme evasive action...and get home in almost 6 hours!!
I am planning on driving back home this coming Sunday via the 'scenic" route and miss all the conjestion!
I will see some of you tomorrow afternoon!!!!
YYYYIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEE!!
