Thank You, Texas...!
I posted this earlier under Greg's thread "Yeeeeeeaaahhhh"...but I wanted to make sure everyone involved saw this.
Thanks, Texas! I had an absolutely wonderful time at your Spring event last week/weekend. We couldn't have asked for better weather...even the chill at night was tempered by the liquor, right? Hell, it even made the trailer rodeo tolerable...next year, though, we need to plan a low speed autocross for tow vehicles and trailers...wouldn't THAT be a hoot!
I arrived Thursday afternoon...so I made the trip to Rudy's...actually, I rode in my Navigator with Matt driving. Seemed like a good choice at the time. I can't remember who all rode with me...Dougie, Colleen, Matt...heck, I wasn't in complete control of my faculties...(ha! imagine THAT!) Thanks for driving Matt...
Friday's cruise to the Oasis was out-freakin'-standin! What a great place...if we lived there, Karen and I would be there every chance we got. What an incredible view...the food was some of the best Tex-Max I've ever eaten..and what can I say about the Margaritas...? Great food, great view, great margaritas...GREAT FRIENDS! All in all...outstanding. Wish I had remembered the sun screen, but hey...
For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the restaurant we went to Friday night...but I had prime rib, and it was really good. Once again, I had been slightly over served...hey, anyone see a trend developing...?
Saturday's cruise was superb, as well. Excellent roads...most excellent weather...an excellent time was had by all. John Russell, Jr, was my co-pilot, and we had a great ride. We took the most direct route back to the Marriott, as I wanted to check out the new Tom-Tom GPS navigation unit I bought for my wife. John Jr. seemed to enjoy operating the unit and seeing exactly where we were and how many miles we had back to the hotel. Nice cruise...and an excellent traveling companion...thanks John, you've done a good job with Jr...!
Saturday night's parking lot get together was most excellent, too. Hat's off to the Houston crowd for their cook-out...good food. I had enough sense to stay away from the "red stuff"...that stuff had "puke-till-the-dry-heaves" written all over it...I drank about a half a glass and said that's enough of that...and went back to my Goose-n-tonics! I understand some of the participants decided that they couldn't get enough of the stuff, though, and wound up carrying a bucket of the slop around with them....and there was something about a visit to John Russell's room around midnight...and someone "falling aout of their shoes"... I told ya that stuff was dangerous!!! Anything that sweet was meant to be dangerous... Did anyone actually ever see Colleen Sunday morning, or did she just slink out the side door and crawl into the trailer...
Thanks to everyone who had a hand in the event planning, logistics, parking, etc. An excellent job in everything.!!! This ol' Tennessee boy had a great time and looks forward to coming back next year!
Thanks again...!

Instructional Video
Freddie,
You really should publish a video on how to read driving directions while in a Cobra. Those sound effects were amasing.

Freddie,
Always a pleasure having you come to the event. Love the house stories at lunch on Saturday and you're a great beverage partner. Hope you can make it again next year as you and Doug seem to add that extra bid of lift to the Austin Spring Event!!!!!
That great prime rib was at Saltgrass Steak House.......

Saltgrass Steak House...that's right...I remember now. Thanks, Gary....!
..and Yes...I had a good time, Elgecko.. I always look at the Texas Annual Event as the kickoff to a new Cobra year. It's the first event of the season for most of us, and it sorta sets the tone for the rest of the year. If this year's event was indicative of anything at all...it's gonna be a Great Year!
Thanks again, my Friends...!

Ditto to all that stuff Freddie said and then add a splash or two. Sorry I missed the Sat night activities. I went up to the room to watch the end of the LSU UT game and knocked out....big time. I thought it was the sun that had drained my energy, but it was truly the Heine's that I drank. Seriously, the old Dixie 45 beer back in my younger days would drain me and put me to sleep after two or three. I was good to go with my Limon and coke, but that was lost in J R's room.
Serious good time, glad I made the trip. Thanks to all for work it took to put it together. Hope to see ya'll in Tulsa.
Doug
