An older Viper
A Sunbeam Tiger
A Jaguar XK120 roadster
A Corvette Z06 (2006)

Slick - 2 door for sure. I like the clean lines of the 55 front end, the 56 bumper is a little much for me and although the 57 is "the classic" it just isn't for me. I like the sport coupe the best.
I will find one in due time. I been kinda waiting for one of my kids to go off to college (this fall) so I can take over some of his garage space for my cobra and start the 55 project in my shop (which is where the cobra lives right now). We have 7 cars right now and only 4 indoor spots so I gotta make some room!

I'm with you on the Jag. That's been my dream car for ... ever. Personally I like the XKE or the XK8. I don't really need the R. Actually I'm sure the public would appreciate my not having the R. But my goal is to have a Jag by the time I turn 40. So I've got years and years and years before that deadline comes and goes.

I went out and found an odd one.63 fairlane pretty good shape to, so far im into it a little over $100 and 3 days.And as I was looking at it I found someone had put a toploader 4 speed in it.DAMN THE LUCK!

'63 Fairlane, GOOD call! Saw one the other day and it DID get me thinking about the early Falcons, Fairlanes and such. 63 and 64, best years. 62 is interesting, but just slightly misses the mark on styling. 65 is good, but the beginning of a whole new era in design.

Talk about Fairlanes. I have had my eye on one that is sitting next to a church by my office for 4 years now. It was handed down to the pastors son by the pastors dad when he died and it just sits there with grass growing around it. It is CLEAN and unmolested. I call him every so often to try and get him to sell it but he keeps saying his son is going to restore it SOMEDAY. I hate seeing it sitting there and almost feel like buying a cover for it and putting it on so it does not just rust away. I drive by it at least twice a day and it just drives me crazy!!!

Well Ive had a eye on this 63 fairlane for years.I bought a 66 convertable and traded straight across.(still in town)The best deal was I couldnt track down the real owner of the convert so I had a new title made The price was actually $ 0.It looks just like a small 57 ford 2 dr hardtop the only rust was the heels of the floor pan in the front.I know of 2 of them.They seem to be even rarer then original cobras.DAMN THE LUCK

As a wee lad, the XKE was my first automolove and would have to say if the 427s/c had never came to be, that is what would be in the garage now. Gotta be a series I roadster! (Perhaps with a big block Ford )

I think after watching all the streetrods built on american hotrod, I really like the old school hot rod idea with all the new equipment. Since I am selling the Cobra, I have been looking around at old sedans (two kids afterall). I really like the chop top look of the old Mercs. Thanks for the ideas from all!

Ah, a more or less full size sedan. Chopped Merc is a good call, the Fairlanes and Falcons should also work well for this 'recipe'. Kind of rules out the "Deuce Coups", two seaters and other 'exoctics'.
A solid and interesting question and SHOULD stay within a reasonable budget (what with the kids and all).
"Shoe Box" cars are in the running, but I'm a Ford man! Mid 50's Ford comes to mind as a car I'd like to see as a 'Hot Rod'. Maybe lowered all around (handling), no chrome, perhaps bumpers painted same color as car, 17" rims? Go 'different', go FORD!
