Default "Don't Mess With Texas"

The "Don't Mess With Texas" slogan has been nominated for a very prestigious award. If it were to win, a Bronze Plaque would be placed on Madison Avenue's "Walk of Fame" and it would get a permanent place at the Advertising Icon Museum in Kansas City. Please go to www.votedmwt.com and vote for it. The competition is tough, like Got Milk?, What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, The breakfast of Champions, and others. So.... please vote early and often, and tell your fellow Texans to do like wise.

Wouldn't it be cool for New Yorkers to have to walk past a Bronze Plaque every day that said "DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS" ?

Smile Don't Mess With Texas

So, what does this slogan mean? Where did it originate and why? Did it come from a "Don't litter" meaning?
Thanks.

Default My Favorite Don't Mess With Texas

I remember the lonely pick up truck driving down a deserted road. The driver threw out a can or something and went over a hill. The scene changed to the front view of the truck coming down the hill and a Confederate Air Force B-17 flying low coming up from behind to take care of the litter bug.

We need a slogan like that in Arizona. Any suggestions? Maybe I'll put a sticker on my Cobra windshield.

I voted for you guys in Texas.

I live here in NY - "The Land of Taxes", so I figure "close enough".

Good luck!!!

Cheers!

Old, how about this?

Arizona: Litter and our dyke governor will kick your @$$!

Also these, though not litter specific.

Arizona: Mexico del Norte

Arizona: Trust us, it's too #$@*ing hot here, go home!

Arizona: You break it, you buy it.

BTW, did you know they are naming the new trolley sytem after you?

How about, "Throw trash, try to throw Tent City!" or

"Litter Bugs Get Stepped on" or

"12-Step Litter Program in Jail"

Yes, the new Trolley Transit System runs on natural gas, and I mean REAL natural.

I give it a week and (like the city buses) it'll smell like it.

Arizona: Sorry California, we're FULL!
