I actually did try a rubber mallet for about 5 min and found it to be worthless. I will get a lead mallet or spinner removal tool from finishline for next time. Is it enough to put them back on with the rubber mallet, or will that not be tight enough?

For now, put a piece of wood over the spinner ear and whack the piece of wood with a real hammer. That should be good enough, provided you safety wire them. You absolutely gotta get a lead hammer. Did I hear you say "Yes, I put anti-seize on the threads and back face of the spinner?" ... and maybe a dab on the pins themselves.

OK, the wood and hammer is how I got them off, so I'll do that for now. Yes I will wire them and yes I am using anti-seize. I will get a lead hammer. Thanks!!

I use a 2X4 and a big old iron hammer (on the Healy, the ERA's has nuts, big manly nuts). I carry the hammer and the wood in the trunk.

Ernie, you ought to post a shot of those nifty bolt-ons. They look more like knock-off wheels than knock-off wheels do.

ERA "Hub Caps" keep your nuts hidden.

Cell phone pic without inserts. Note the tip's of the lug nuts are slightly visible where the black paint has rubbed off.



With wheel inserts, the key is keeping the base rim and lug nuts painted black.
I actually still use an iron hammer and wood to take off the spinner, but there not very tight.
