We AIM too Please!
The photo location is about 3 minutes from El Arroyo. Nice big grass field that we have check over and it will hold a bunch of Cobras. Hopefully the Bluebonnets will be out and add to the scene. We have checked the field and there should be no problems for the cobra's. The photographer thinks this will be the best picture ever.

And we have the permission of the owner of the field, right? I remember the gocart/pizza place giving us grief a couple of years ago...
The plans sound GREAT, looking forward to seeing everyone!

How about HOT PIPES on DRY GRASS???? Just a thought...
Thanks for posting the info. By the way, many of us are coming in on Friday morning from Houston and I am sure others from Dallas, etc. Is there any way that you guys could give us directions early to the lunch location on Friday? We should arrive by 10:30 at the latest, unload cars, and head for lunch with the gang. Or, can you all wait for us to head to the Oasis?
Thanks, James

We can wait or I can have maps ready for you guys
James,
If we know when your coming in we can wait and all go as a group. SOme of us may have to stay back at the hotel and keep the traffic flow going. But the more we have leave the hotel the merrier. This is stuff we can play by ear.
Hot pipes is a concern, but the place is nice and green. Should be a problem but we will need to double check before we roll in. Besides we can all take potty breaks right next to the pipes to help cool them.
WHo is the radiator? I would like a ride in that beast if possible.

What about 6th Street
Gregg,
It sounds like a full schedule, but what are your thoughts of cruising 6th street one of the evenings? Or is that taboo with these cars? I'd hate to deprive those college coed's of flocking over me with my wife in the passenger seat.

interesting idea, Steve. I'm not driving down to Austin, but some guys might want to! You could always take a group. This event is really nice- kind of a 'do your own thing' thing. You can go out to dinner with buddies on thurs., fri., sat., and then come to the parking lot parties later, you can 'wing it' with dinner in the parking lot (whatever is served you eat!!!!) and then hang around and 'socialize'. A lot of times we've gone up the highway to the bbq place. This year, with each major area hosting a parking lot social, it's a little different. Looking forward to this new format!
Regarding a cruise, same thing. Different groups head off in different directions, whatever grabs ya! Some folks have friends in the area, and they go a-visitin'. The 'main' cruise on Friday is to the Oasis, the main cruise on Saturday is to El Arroyo. Both wonderful places, and i wouldn't miss either.
two years ago, i skipped the saturday cruise because i NEEDED to go to 6th street; i was picking up a painting i bought!! Didn't go in the cobra tho', it wouldn't have fit.
Feel free to grab a group and cruise on out. The above plans are the basic framework. Great weekend, great trip, great cruise! a 'highlight' of the year!! And what a way to start things out! whooohooooo!
Tell Yancey to 'watch out' for red stuff and blue stuff.

Steve, I'm in for a 6th Street cruise.
Unless it's Spring Break for UT and the coeds are back at home, then forget it.
I DO want to make sure we cover some of those more-wicked twisty roads around the lake. Is it 1431 or 2243? Something like that.

remember...... the cruise routes are very twisty, too! We don't go the 'regular' way.....
last year, i was behind Keith and Shelly Craft. When we started out, all was fine and dandy..... Did you know Keith doesn't believe in using his brakes??? man i'd come right up behind him, scaring me, Joanne, and I'm sure HIM half to death!! Finally figured he must do a lot of down shifting, and the two or three times he actually used his brakes, wow i knew that meant i'd be standing on mine!!! quite a ride!!!
I'd holler at Joanne "hey, do you see any brake lights on him?? huh??? is he slowing down? oh jaysus! this is a tight turn we might go over.......!!!!!"
bout peed my pants a few times.....
yup, nice twisty roads down there huh???

I thought SXSW was in the same weekend as our spring meet, but it ends on the 18th. 6th street should be open to local traffic.

Ditto on 6th street, there is a great rum from Sam Marcos on HWY 12 to just south of Wimberley pick up HWY 32 over the Devel's Backbone to Blanco then run up to 1888 to Luchenbauch and back down to Boerne on HWY 137. Have made this run several times in my Vet, plenty of twist and turns, watering holes and vista views.

The Austin group puts together the 'cruises' every year. The bulk of the group follows their route, with map in hand!!
it would be fine if ya'll wanted to do a different run, but on Saturday you ought to 'run with the group' because we'll stop and have the group photo, etc. (this would be saturday morning, lunch, and early afternoon)
There would be Thursday afternoon/evening, Friday afternoon/evening (if you didn't do the Oasis or after the Oasis), Saturday late afternoon/evening for other fun cruises!
ya'll have fun!
I'm 'hangin' at the hotel!!
