Next North Texas Spring Cruise
Ok, many that went on the first cruise have said they are ready to do another one, so here is a proposal:
I've heard some really good things about the Highway 4 drive. I believe some of the Corvette clubs do this on an annual basis. Maybe some of you know more than I do. I went to Google maps and checked it out and here is a proposed route.
Start at the Cracker Barrel restaurant at 35W and 380 intersection in Denton.
Head west on 380 through Decatur, Bridgeport and Jacksborough to Hwy 4.
Head south on Hwy 4 through Graford, Palo Pinto, Santo, Lipan, Thorp, Spring, Granbury, Acton, Cleburne, Sand Flat, Cuba and Grandview. End at 35W just outside Grandview and head home.
This looks like it would be a bit shorter than the first cruise and easily doable in one day. Maybe meet for breakfast at the Cracker Barrel and have lunch in Granbury?
Check it out and post your interest.

Just as an addendum, this trip could easily be modified to swing by Eagles Canyon Raceway out of Sanger. All we'd have to do is head North on 1173 from 380 to 455 and then West to 51. Visit the track and then head south on 51 to Decatur and pick up the original route.

Looks like a great route...about 180 miles from the Denton Cracker Barrel to Grandview. Averaging 55 mph (road speed) and an hour for lunch and a 45 minute side trip to Eagle Canyon...what are we looking at 5 to 6 hours?
LET'S DO IT...ROAD TRIP! or shoud it be "Toga! Toga!"
Count us in. We could be in Grandview by early afternoon and beat the heat. June 3rd is my vote.

My God, you folks are insane. But I'm in again. Someone set a date, but within reason. Not in two weeks. Let us catch our breath.
I pulled the radiator last night just to replace the upper hose. The only way, as agreed by Dennis Olthoff. Had to peel away the layers of bugs. I'll replace tonight, then adjust the clutch. Then Friday morning pick up the new trailer, and head to Texas World Speedway for HPDE instructions.
It's going to be tight with the 5000 mile/year allowance from the insurance company.

Jim,
Another great idea! I'm in for sure. The country around Glen Rose is has some areas that remind me of west of Austin, but much closer. Let's do it.

How about Sunday, May 6th? Forgot the 13th is Mother's Day! Depart from the Cracker Barrell around 9:30 or so. Those that want to partake in breakfast there can arrive early enough to eat and be ready to roll at 9:30. There is gas available at that intersection as well (35W and Hwy. 380).
Raise your hands!
Joe - You needn't even ask - of course you are welcome. The more the merrier.

May 6th. The day after AER, right?
I'm in! Amy's on Girl's Weekend so I'm ready to Get My Cobra On!!
I've heard good things about Chop N Block BBQ in Granbury on 377.
I'll call them tomorrow and see if they can accomodate. Cruise #1 had 10 cars from what I can see from the photos, so 20 folks? I'll see if they can handle 15-25 hungry Dallasites.
Sammy, I'll have an empty seat, if you can't find a big block ride, you're more than welcome.

Sam, might ought to take him up on it.... not sure if i'm 'in' or not.
Miles- we had a blast- but it would have been tons more fun with you! we missed you A LOT!!!!!!!
we discovered my speedo is uh, inaccurate. by a lot, i'd say.
2 GT's, 1 coupe, and 7 Cobras. very very good trip! no break downs (on the trip- sounds like steve had to limp home)
well over 250 miles! can you believe it!
I'm gonna 'try' to make it, but not too sure.
I was wondering about the mother's day thing, Jim. I might have had a better chance going on Mother's day; you know, I could 'play' the 'well it is my day, today, sorry that i don't want to spend it with ya'll' card!!!!
hmmmm, guess that doesn't sound too good.....
i'll keep ya posted.
that would be two cobra things in one weekend. hmmmmm.
you know that'll cost me.
uh oh, Steve S. it's two weeks! too soon for ya?? what are ya, weak???
Steve P..... nah, sorry! start saving for your own new cobra! any kind will do.

OK Kristen!!! Ya wanna see who's the wuss??? Why don't you load up either of those two beasts you own and head down to College Station with me Friday night. NASA HPDE. Two days of clockwise 2.9 miles!!! I even ponied up for extra track time both days. Come Tulsa time, this novice is gonna show some folks how we properly handle our cars in Heath.
Don't worry, I'll be there the 6th with bells on. I might have an empty seat, unless my youngest wants to come. Jim J., if your co-pilot chair is empty, we might bring the two girls again.
You guys are killing me. By the way, new upper Cool-flex hose installed last night and adjusting clutch tonight. Good to go here.

Chop N Block BBQ can accomodate us. Just need a final number a couple of days before and they'll set us up. They have an after-church rush about 12. They were a little queasy about coning off parking spaces, but I'll keep working on it. Looking forward to this!!
