It was a Lotus.

I have never seen anything like it. The car looks like it was run over with a steam roller from the doors forward.
Things like this should remind us to give our family a hug and tell them that we love them. Jack will never have that opportunity again.

I just read all 12 pages on the Elisetalk forum. how tragic. how sad. how unbelievable. how fast it all happened.
RIP, Jack. It could happen to any one of us here.
Drive safely, men, when you are on the street. And drive very safely, my friends, when you are on the track.
Died doing what he loved.... reminds me of Dick Smith.....
in thought,
kristen

I did the same, K,
I think of how stupid I was in my early years and how lucky I am to be alive.
Believe it or not, I've mellowed my driving habits over the years, in part, to incidences like this.
It's romantic to think about going to the next plane doing something you love, but martyr's don't get to walk with their wives on an Italian beach at age 75. I just couldn't imagine getting robbed out of spending the rest of my life and growing old with my Amy.
Please be careful out there doing whatever you do. It's much more important to bring yourself home to your loved ones than beating that kid in the 5.0 Mustang.

I ride a motorcycle everyday, I put about 10K a year on one. I love to ride. I recognize the danger every morning when I suit up (helmet, jacket, etc.) and am thankful I can ride again today. I never take it for granted. I ride on the weekend just for the sheer joy of it! I don't want to die doing what I love to do. I want to die in my bed, an old man, in the fullness of time, not cheated by death. I ride to live, and I drive my Cobra the same way. Pushing the envelope at times but always mindful that death is an enemy and it waits just around the corner... May God bless those Jack left behind as well as the man himself.

It's always sad to hear someone is injured or killed on the road.
The auto forums bring enthusiasts closer together and you sometimes feel like you have known many of them for years after following their escapades on the forum - in particular this forum
The forum is about meeting enthusiasts, making friends and enjoying your hobby with people you would never had the opportunity to meet otherwise. No doubt some great friendships were made on the elisetalk site - this is evident when you read some of the 'Posts' there.
Stay safe - all of you on clubcobra
My thoughts are with the 'elisetalk gang as many of them would feel they have lost a friend...

This is truly a reminder to us all, as we remember the buddies we have lost though the years.
Our prayers are with the family

Wow. Yesterday I read about the two guys in the T-bucket, and today I read this.
Guys: Summer driving season is here. Take stock of what is at stake, family, friends, the lives and well-being of complete, innocent strangers, before you push the envelope on the street or otherwise. Life is truely an amazing, beautiful thing, not to be wasted for a moment's high.
By the way, I do not intend to imply that these accidents were the fault of the drivers, and my condolences to the families involved. You just never really know what's around the next corner.

Some of us spent part of our careers investigating T/As and each one is horrible as we observed the sad ripple effects throughout entire families.
I used to think I was immortal both on and off the track until I had a headon in '93.
Took me out of everything I cared for about for a year. Had to retire, change lifestyles, etc.
Thank God for my wife! Her support held me together.
The good thing is I had an opportunity to reflect and realize that I wanted more of what I took for granted...More time with my wife, kids, grandkids and friends.
I feel for this gentleman's family and wish for them as short a healing time as possible. For Mr Griffith, I wish him peace.

Yes the families and of course the investigators are the ones left to ponder the carnage.
