Next North Texas Cruise Proposal
Well, I said someone else needed to step up and plan a cruise, but then I started looking at the maps and have come up with a proposal.
How about starting in Rockwall, somewhere near I30 and S. Goliad Street (FM 205) and then head east on FM 276 passing through Quinlan and East Tawakoni , then south on FM 47 through Woolsley, Flats, Clifton and Wills Point, continuing south through Scott and onto FM 198 through Rody and on into Mabank. Lunch in Mabank. Then following FM 198/FM 90 through Payne Springs, Log Cabin, Caney Creek and into Malakoff. Then take FM 31 through Trinidad, Kerens, Powell and into Corsicana. From Corsicana, head northeast on FM 3041 through Pettys Chapel to Roane, connecting to FM 1129 to Montfort, following FM 1129 to FM 85E to FM 2613 north to Styx and Lively. Then on FM 148 west through Grays Prairie, Scurry, Warsaw, Crandall and Terrell. Take FM 205 from just outside Terrell back to where we stared in Rockwall? Thats about 258 miles.
I've also looked at a variation that would take us from Corsicana to Waxahachie and then on to Styx and pick up the above itinerary. That adds about another 50 miles for a total of 310. But it does address John Deans request to visit Waxahachie!
Any comments or ideas, please post them. I'm thinking we need to do this in June. Maybe June 3rd or the 24th. Tulsa is in the 14th - 17th. Any later into the summer and we'll be into some major warm weather.
Is this too much cruising for y'all? Do we need to wait until the fall?

I will be in hot San Antonio the 2nd/3rd. no go for me, and with Tulsa, I'm just not gonna commit to being able to do another cruise. I want to.... and maybe by then everything will be absolutely fine!! No ball games on Sunday, that's for sure! *ugh, did I say that??? We have tournament ball games on Sunday all the time!!!!
I like the way Sunday's work out.
If the majority like the 3rd, then 'go for it'. I know it'll be hot by the 24th, but I bet that's the only weekend that'll work for me.
Whaddya think??
anyway, I lived 14 years in Terrell; some of my old stompin' ground.
been to Malakoff, Mabank, etc.

Wow Jim,
I've actually run the beginning 1/3 of that run. At Wills Point Yancey and I headed back west to Kaufman. It's a good one. The 3rd sounds good. I'm out the weekend of the 8th moving my daughter to Stillwater.
If it works out, I'd even offer you our guest room and part of the garage if you want to arrive the evening before since you're half way around the world from Rockwall.

I like it. Dont really HAVE to do Waxahachie this time. Around 200-250 miles sounds about right for a cruise. June 3 works for me, cant do 24th.

Joe,
We don't have to do something in YOUR area for you to participate. I live in Denton and will have to drive 70+ miles just to get to the starting point and then another 70+ miles to get home afterwards.
On the other hand, there is nothing preventing you from putting together a proposed cruise that includes Waxahachie and posting it.
What we are trying to do is enjoy our cars and travel around different areas in and around the metroplex.

I'd better hurry up and get some new seats ordered Or I'll have to go alone this next time. Wouldn't seats make a nice Mother's Day present?

Hey Joe, (where you goin' with that gun in your hand?)
If Mapquest is telling me right, it looks like Hwy 813, 878, 664, 983, 55 and 157 have some really curvy sections. Since I don't know these roads, they might be going through subdivisions or right by the police station.
Set us up a route that inlcudes a good lunch stop and you'd be surprised who shows up. Just feed us and these animals will go almost anywhere.
There's more folks than just you down south so with a southern tour, we could shake the trees and get them involved!

Hmmmmmmmm
813 has a fair amount of curves to it and a great lunch spot is the Rockett Cafe in (of course) Rockett. No police stations or the like, but the whole of 813 is probably only about 15 miles once you get out of Waxahachie.
I would love to help, but I am not a good "route planner". On the bike, I let others lead and I follow.
The nice think about it down here is once you get out of town, almost all the roads are wide open, mildly twisty, and beautiful Texas country.
I would love to join wherever you do it, thank you. I haven't purchased/started my Cobra yet, so if you don't mind a Red Chevy Diesel Crew Cab in the mix (or maybe a Suzuki C-50), I would love to join. Of course, if anyone has an empty seat...
