Eagle Canyon
Has anyone seen Eagle Canyon outside Sanger in the flesh yet? I was wondering what the course layout will be and if it will be "Cobra Friendly". It is closer to home than the Motorsports Park and my membership there is due again. I have not been too happy with the MP due to the tightness..I would prefer someplace that will let my cars open up a little bit more.

Robert,
Yes, I have seen it in the flesh. As a matter of fact, we ran an event there last week-end for the 50th Anniversary Corvette Club. The track is not yet finished so we ran on the short track (1.7 miles) at controlled speed. You can see some photos of the track taken from the air posted on Eagles Canyon WEB site: www.eaglescanyonraceway.com. Look in the Gallery.
If you want speed, this is the track for you. There is a 2000' straight a way on the big course (2.5 miles) and several others in excess of 1000', plus some off camber corners and several interesting elevation changes. It is going to be one bad a$$ track when complete.
I would suggest you go out there and take a tour. My guess is you won't renew your Motor Sport Ranch membership.

That's what I love about Texas. You guys just look at a big, flat patch of land that no one gives two hoots about. And then you take a bulldozer to it and convert it into something useful...like a race track.
Out here in Kalifornia, our tree huggers look at a big, flat patch of land that no one gives two hoots about. And then they do everything in their power to make it protected lands because some flowering weed or other "native landscape" that grows there, or some jack rabbit that was practically hunted into extinction during the 1800's by the original settlers, just might go extinct if a couple hundred acres were to suddenly go away. Forget about the improved tax base, forget about the jobs created, forget about the local commerce that would spring up from such a project. Motorheads be damned and save the @#$%& bunnies!
Whew...I feel better now!

Hey Jim W.
What's the deal with the Helicopter Pad at Mineral Wells? I understand that a small group can rent it for the day for around $100. Neal B. at TDE was telling me about it. Would you check it out...we may be able to get a group together and go out and play. Need phone numbers and contact names. Thanks in advance.
