Since there were questions about my specific car, I'll provide a little further information. My title reads as a 2003 Lone Star. Therefore, they expect it to meet EPA regs for 2003. I am unable to find those regs, and I question how any inspector could possibly now every regulation for every model. The two guys I spoke-to had received no information on how they were to enforce inspections in 2008. So, they had only enough information to try to warn me...not enough to guide me.

P.S. they actually suggested geting the car re-titled, ala Titles Unlimited. The official position being that the issue of proper titling being a DOT concern and not an inspection concern. Also, as far as the "official" inspection station (LREYBURN), the word for several years has been that all replicas must use the DPS waiver stations...although many of the commercial stations don't realize this.

What does your insurance card say? It should read something like "65 [or 66] Cobra Replica [or kit car]"...that is all the inspection station should look for or at, except for initial inspection...safety inspection only.

Am I safe in assuming that both,

ZOTS - 2002 SPCN (California car)
Rocksnake - 2003 Lone Star

do not have 65-66 cobra replica or Replica:65-66 Cobra any where on your titles ??????????
Under "Model" or under "Remarks" ????

If not, that could present a problem for the insurance co./agent in putting the 65-66 on the insurance card the inspection station looks at.
