No problem, finally feeling better this cold / allergy kicked my but all week, was happy to see it start you won the poll between you and John, not by much but you still won

All dressed up, full tank, mirrors, seat belts, both seats, tunnel installed, cranked up to back out of driveway .. reverse gear won't engage

With only 30 min left till the appointment with the trooper, I called him and rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Been fiddling with the Hurst linkage, thought I had it perfect, but didn't adjust reverse after it worked the first few times. Today it was different, it wouldn't go in. Need to untwiddle the shift rod, not a big thing.

Big thing is the oil leak off the back of the block. I wish it was a bad pan gasket .. but I'm afraid it's a rear main seal or possibly the manifold seal. Will investigate further after the Sat DCC debut luncheon.

Joe, consensus on the location of the monthly meet is usually achieved about Thursday before the Saturday event

Just watch the Texas Forum and there will be a separate thread starting soon ..

Took the seats and tunnel out again and re-adjusted the Hurst linkage. Need a test drive tomorrow after work. Don't want to fire it up right now and upset the neighbors

It was sure nice to have a complete car today .. albeit just for a trip to the gas station

People were gawking .. I loved it ..

10 mi test drive last night, shakedown in advance of the state inspection today! Yeeeeee Haaaaaa !!!!! Gawd what a beast! FE's r cule!

Didn't want to disturb my neighbors so went over to JRoss house and disturbed his neighbors. Figgered with John's car in the shop they'd be lonely

David Kee Toploader with the Hurst shifter is butter smooth .. fond memories of how they were back then

Remember that spring loaded "snick, snick" from 2nd to 3rd?

Oil leakage is indicative of a rear main seal, maybe it dried out over the year of sitting. I wouldn't think neoprene would do that. Also could be rear of the intake manifold, but less likely, or oil pan gasket. All fixable by me without pulling engine.

But I've ordered the gaskets and seals, so it's just work. Any one want to learn how to work on an FE, gimme a call! The fun starts after this weekend's meeting.

It's time for a scotch .. maybe two!! I have a real inspection sticker and tags, I followed the legal process, and did not lie to anybody

See my notes on the TX Registration thread .. We are making this harder than it really is. Note, my comments on that thread refer to a rolling chassis from a manufacturer, completed by the owner, as an assembled vehicle. Not sure how this works with a turn-key.

I did have a paper tag so I could have some fragrance of legality when I drove the 12 miles to Plano for the inspection.

Now to live the life ..

Still need some carpet and mechanical sorting, but drivable, inspected, titled, and registered .. 3 weeks from rolling chassis delivery.
