Unfortunately, this is a work weekend at the ranch so I'll be manning a chainsaw, burning brush and driving the tractor. How friggin' manly can you get?
Looks like the Texas Installation Team Looking/Inspecting/Checking/Kranking Rechecker (T.I.T. L.I.C.K.R.) will have to miss this one.
Steve, glad you and John found what was ailing Oh Eight and hope she's back on the road soon.
Hey Joe Wicked, I need a little of your electrical wizardry-my fuel pump is blowing fuses and need to track down why. It's Ohm-believable!

Miles that was bad. Ohm-believable? If it is blowing fuses, then it is drawing too much current. Since you have a schematic it shouldn't be too hard to track down. Is it happening on regular intervals or seemingly randomly?

You guys are all WAY BAD! Poor Kristen, to think she has to put up with you guys on a regular basis.
CAN I JOIN, I could chair the Humbly Urging Greater Effort committee? I am sure being a member At Large would would allow me to extend a Helping Hand from 300 miles away.
AKA, we are ready to host the rowdy and ever popular Texas Cobral Club attendence at the Southwest Corner of this years Mid-America Shelby meet. Are you bringing the Margarita Machine?

Miles. How long did that take to think up?
Clois. We'll bring it up for discussion. Oklahoma really is "way north" Texas anyway.
Looks like I have an appointment early next week to machine the crank, replace the bearings, clean the block and heads, etc.. I haven't cut the oil filter yet, but I sure there is something running around the oiling system that caused this damage.
This sucks!

T.I.T. prep for Sunday
Almost everything has been disconnected and ready for the Sunday pull. I'll see everyone about 3:00 PM. Do I need to provide anything more than beer?
Does anyone have a set of A N wrenches? I'm tired of tearing up the fittings.
Thanks,
Steve

Got 'er dun!
Steve jumped out of bed Sun am and undid everything and hooked the block up to the hoist. It was ready to pull when JRoss and I got there at 2:00, he just waited for us out of courtesy
That's a sick motor Keith'll make it better! Helped by David M., Joe W., and Mike (H-Rod), we put it on a cradle and it's headed to Arkadelphia on the next bus.
So all we really had to do was drink Steve's beer and B.S.

Sammy;
What is your power to weight ratio with the latest RWHP dyno? I figured about 6.5 pounds per horse....as they say in the south..."ya'll be careful out there" I'm anxious to see you at Hallett feathering your power to keep the rubber patch on the road.
I can see it now...SSsssammy the SSsssilver SSSssstreak!!!!

Hp to Wt?
Larry .. haven't had it weighed. Figure nominal ERA 427 spec at 2650 lbs with an iron FE and iron T/L. Me with an alum FE and alum TKO, and Billboard Goodyears which are like blimps and have negative weight .. maybe 2500 lbs?
So 2500/418 would give 6 lbs/Hp All I know is it will spin the tires all the way through first, second, and most of third. I just hope someone gets the film at turn 10 at Hallett when the rubber band in my sphincter breaks and I let off the throttle Ssshhheeeiiittt ...
I better shut up!

Engine out of state, while I'm going out of my mind!
Yep,
After much thought, advice and discussions, I've decided to deliver the engine to KCM Plano for Keith to pick up Wednesday and haul back to Arkansas.
I've talked to multiple engine builders, and few to non have worked on the Genesis aluminum side oiler. Keith explained he is aware of some previous flaws from the casting by the Genesis foundry, and some could be the culprit of the damaged bearing. Others are confident they can repair what's been damaged, but this time I'm going for experience.
The more I look at that bearing with others, it looks more like oil starvation instead of debris damage. Is this from first start up at the factory, first start up in my garage, or within the first 15 miles driven in town? I'm not sure, but I bet there are thousands of particles from the bearing throughout the engine now.
This has been a VERY expensive chapter with this car. The cat crapped in the car right before he "disappeared", so my wife called it the "litter box" for a while. Right now, it's refered as "the money hole"!!!! I've said "hole" and not "pit", since you usually can see the bottom of a pit.
Not too happy in Heath, Texas,
Steve S.
P.S.: It was my daughter supplying the cookies Sunday. Mmmm...chocolate chip and Miller lite, nothing better.

Steve,
Sorry I missed the pull... but sound like you were done before I even was ready to leave Flower Mound
Yea these cars can be a bit expensive... I suffer from the "why not" and "sure it's only another $100" I have so many custom parts in my car it is not even funny...
But if I wanted a cheep convertible roadster I would have a miata

Since everyone is telling their sad tells, let me add mine. Remember the little electrical fire that "Snotty" had in Austin? Well it turns out it wasn't so little and went into my dash. So now, I'm waiting for my new wiring harness will arrive.

Steve,
Get KC to get that engine fixed and bolt it back into the car. Then take it out and hammer it a few times with confidence. That will help get you get over the busted engine blues!!

Jim, what a bummer .. I was so glad to see you in Austin, back together and on the road with the new motor Just like the rest of us .. nothing easy is ever easy It's all hard, takes more time, and costs extra
John, is the ERA going to Mid-America? Just got mine back today Woo Hoooo! Four wheel alignment and ride height done, major bux, the rear end was dog tracking, according to Rob. Long as it doesn't lift it's leg on one of the GT-500's I guess it will be ok ...
