Miles, cruise the track in what you're driving behind a pace car. Better than nothing.

Yep, sounds better than nothing, and get to see the new track too. Good enough reason to take the Cobra instead of the real track terror, the Explorer.
So, looks like more folks can go Sunday morning? There's an IHOP in Lewisville, on Main (1171) just east of 35. Meet there at 8? That'll put us at the track around 10:00.
If Steve's clutch is already gone, we'll get the see the FAST cars go around and he can tell us all about them. BTW, Steve, looking at the schedule, what group are you in? Group 5?
I look forward to a good time last weekend.

That IHOP is really busy on Sunday mornings...Alternate suggestion...there is a Cracker Barrel at SH 380 and I-35 which would allow those coming from NE Dallas/Frisco/McKinney a short cut to the track through Denton.
Meet there at 8:00am & be at the track at 9:15.
Who is coming? JD, PP, LR, MM, JR, SSS, CN, ????
Sunday May 18th! We had a great time next weekend.

Nice try Miles.
Group 5 is for students. School is in session only twice a year. After one weekend of school, they throw us to the dogs. We are classified as a "novice" for three events thereafter. To find the novice drivers, just look a big "X" on our tails. This way the experienced drivers can avoid us.
The atrition has already started. One Group 1 driver has pulled out. Welcome to VINTAGE racing.
Oh yeah, maybe one of these days........

THE QUESTION SHOULD BE: "Will Steve's clutch make it through the weekend?"
The CVAR Race weekend is May 17 & 18, 2008 at Eagle Canyon.
Unless you are in a major time warp...you didn't miss it.
Geeees! "Beam me up Scotty!"

I will have attended
I plan to have been at this event whenever it occurred If you bought gas at the convenience store adjacent to the Cracker then you didn't run out on the way back from the track
Is it ok for guests to pass the pace car in the turns as long as we don't exceed 50 mph? Just want to learn the protocol ...

Sam.......I dare ya!!
BTW Sam, I called the hoist manufacturer. It's just a rubber plug and fluid to replace. So I'll get that handled, because I received a call today. The engine is being delivered to Plano this week. 535 HP at the flywheel. I wonder if I can steal some of those horseys and throw them under the Mustangs hood?
Glad to see so many guys coming out. Are you going to spell out "z-e-r-o__e-i-g-h-t" on your chests???? Guardsman Blue with Wimbledon White outline don't forget.

We only need 7 people to spell out "O-H___E-I-G-H-T"
I can't wait til Steve's clutch goes out last weekend and we all say, "I knew that was going to happen...."

Miles, I think the Explorer at 50 mph would definitely be exciting with the body roll and all.

The story behind the story is the driving instructor at Hallett last year driving my wife's Explorer on some hot laps. See, it was raining so the Cobra was under cover so, just to learn the track, took the Explorer out there. Man, I thought he was going to roll that mother. He explained he had the track record for an SUV! I said, "Dude, if you roll my wife's SUV, I might as well get comfortable in it because this is where I'll be sleeping for the next month!"
So as Sam asked, who is coming? JD, PP, LR, MM, JR, SSS, CN, ????

Working on it. Since it is this weekend (this weekend, ie south of the Mason Dixon), I might be able to come out on Saturday morning.

Oh Eight Up Date:
Steve ran strong in the test and tune day at ECR. During the second session the clutch pedal stuck down creating a shifting problem resulting in Steve messing his racing suit.
After a lot of discussion and trouble shooting by a crack team of noble competitors, it was determined to be a small problem with the pedal bushing binding. A quick shot of WD-40 solved the problem and Steve was able to finish the next session.
Jay N. and I provided pit assistance and valuable coaching resulting in Steve staying focused and on track. Jay complimented lunch so that Steve could stay within his racing budget and maintain nourishment. Thanks Jay!
Steve said, "I'm looking forward to Sunday especially, because several of my friends from the Texas Cobra Club are coming to cheer me on to victory, and everyone knows how much I like to _____________________." (Finish Steve's coment and win FREE admission to Sunday's race at CVAR.)
Cheers!
