Jackie & I are going to ECR on Sunday May 18th...as of this posting..."next/this" Sunday.
We will be going by Cracker Barrel at approximately 8:45am & 9:00 am.
We are not interested in a big breakfast and therefore we will see EVERYONE at the track.

I'm trying to post this morning, but my connection keeps dropping off.
But quickly, the car started to act up on the second race yesterday and we're trying to fix the problem this morning. If your coming to watch zero-eight run, come at your own risk. If you want to see a bunch of cool old cars race, I think you'll enjoy it.
OH YES Miles.......they did not let the public (that's you) drive the track at lunch time yesterday. CVAR does not orginize that. Eagles Canyon does. May be we can ask this morning.

I'm out Steve; hope the carb (and clutch) holds together for this morning's race.
Sorry to have missed all of the fun.

Final tally for Group 1:
21 entrants
19 started Saturday morning.
8 finished last race.
ECR is tough on vintage racers. At least 20% of the cars, in all classes, were on trailers headed home after the Sunday morning warm up session.
Zero-eight ran well on Friday, with the help of Larry R and Jay N. Then Yancey and Jim J came Saturday and watched as I ripped off 4 seconds per lap better time during race 1. Actually jumped from 14 position to 8th. Then it went down hill from there. Race 2 she started to misbehave and a DNF.
Sunday we made adjustments and ran OK for warm ups. Race 2 she pretty much became obstinate, but finished. Not very entertaining for Larry & Jackie, Miles or John R & his son. Sorry guys. Then race 4, two laps and on to the trailer. VERY BAD girl.
At first it was acting like fuel starvation, but as it became worse, it's definitely ignition.
Sunburned, tired and drained. Back to the hoist so I can make Mid-America.

Well Done!
Sounds just like racing to me , Steve! I think you need to put way more money in to this if you want to have a reliable car Think big, like the rigs TDE and Keith brought to Austin .. Maybe bring a couple cars .. margarita machine .. the Pirelli Girls
Sorry I missed out, glad you guys got together at ECR finally. I'm looking forward to us doing a track day there! I did take the Cobra to work today

Fred, you're absolutely right. All I have to do is chase down a electrical problem.
Sam, you're out of your mind. Except maybe the margarita machine.

No doubt, that Steve's success on Saturday was largely due to a superior Pit Crew. Both Yancey and I had specific duties and we operated like a well oiled machine. There is just something about wearing my "official" Pit Crew tee shirt that makes you want to do that little extra for your driver. That's why when Steve asked me to check the air pressure in his tires........no problem. But later when he asked me to torque the nuts......................................he can really run fast!!

Jim worked the wheels and tires, and Yancey cleaned the glass. But I actually told Jim to "torque my nuts" and Yancey to "rub the front more"....................
I had to cook dinner for myself last night.

Ohh John, I love it. I think it's a new name:
High Maintenance Racing
What do you think? Any other suggestions?
I'll select a winner, and they get a medium size "08 Pit Crew" T-Shirt. (I still haven't given them all away yet)

Steve on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday you, you had more crew/audience/well wishers/fans/groopies/Perilli Girls/admirers/want-to-be just like you's/crew/support staff/helpful competitors/photo journalists/and last of all friends, than any other CVAR competitor.
What did you do? Improve your lap times...YES! Finish 2nd in Class on Saturday...YES!
Start 4 races...YES! Look Cool under pressure...YES! Have fun regardless of some mechanical glitches...YES!
What do you want? Perfection? Go do a drawing...grasshopper.
Congratulations on a Great Weekend!
