Very thoughful of you boys.
It would actually be a great dig because in the past year-
one neighbor sold his '65 Vette roadster (I guess to pay for those terrible hair plugs! )
And another sold his '70 Chevelle...
Twice they've looked and fence-talked through the driveway gate with seller's remorse as I've washed Annie.
But I'll take you up on the courtesy and see you at Bone Daddy's (we really go back sometime when there are waitresses there) on the SW corner of Spring Valley and 75 at 7:00.
Depart for Steve's at 7:10 so don't be late!

Reading this from other side of the pond and I wish we were a little bit more outwardly patriotic over here!
Anyway I hope you have a great 4th July parade and of course well done to all the troops!

Dingocooke,
I was never in the military, so I've always felt I need to show my appreciation to the young men and women who have decided to serve. If this small gesture helps the individual servicemen for moral, all the better.
Jim J Cups, one of my wingmen last year, told me it was a huge honor to drive for Staff Sergeant Delgado. And Jim served on the ground back in the 60's. That says allot to me.
I've received multiple emails and have been requested in person by a few to organize this again. So if they are recognized just from this small gesture, that's great.

I really wish I could attend Steve. If I am in town next year, maybe I can pitch in as well. I wanted to say since I do not have a Cobra (or convertible of any kind) I will have the BBQ. After the parade, everyone come to my place (only about 15 miles north from your place), but I could not do it this year. We will see about next year.

Dingocooke,
Brits do not seem to think it is politically correct to be patriotic.....it may offend all of the non-Brits who are from elsewhere.
But when they go off for holidays and partying to the islands somewhere, they go ahead and proudly display the Union Jack......I don't get it.

Steve...I left the UK for good some 28 years ago to move here. I get back once or twice a year, and despair what has happened to our once GREAT country. The majority of people over here are INCREDIBLY supportive of the military and their sacrifices (and this support is usually completely INDEPENDENT of their political views). England is NOT the country in which I was born, and I truly see NO rosy future for change there either.
The 'glory days' of the sixties are LONG GONE
Good luck!
Glyn

J Dean, youre way, way off mark there.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with being pc or not; as a general rule of thumb most of us 'Brits' are pretty reticent to shout how good we are (even when we are); thats just a cultural thing and has nothing to do with offending 'non-Brits' elsewhere; we just tend to view ostentatious displays of any sort as a little, (how can I put this); crass at worst and uncomfortably embarrassing and just a little low rent at best.
The (now lost) point in my original post was to say I wish we ('Brits') were a bit better at showing national pride like you guys are, and pride in our servicemen and women; its not that we arent proud, we just dont manage to shout it from the roof tops so well, and for me thats a shame.
As for going to holiday islands and displaying the union jack (usually on ill fitting swim wear or shorts !) that is the preserve of a tiny minority of fools; the vast majority of brits abroad blend in nicely, and a lot of us even speak other languages too ;-)

Hi Glyn,
I can imagine it must be a lot different after 28 years living away, and we do rue the changes and damage done by a succession of very selfish politicians (of every flavour!) The UK is still a great country though; its just a different country. I was born in the 60's so cant really comment, but my folks say the 60's were great if you were reasonably affluent, but pretty dire if you were not!
As for change, yes its going to be slow, as politics are all over the world; but we are between a rock and a hard place; the places with big change are not happy places (Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Israel, most of the former soviet states to name but a few); and lets face it half the countries blessed with oil reserves have very prominent military presence of some kind there; hardly a dream scenario!
Im happy to live here, but could do with better weather and cheaper gas; roll on global warming?!!
Anyway to get back on topic, a round of applause to all the service personel supporting both countries!!
hip hip-hoorah!!

Glyn,
The view I posted was actually from the perspective of good friend and co-worker who is from and currently lives in Sheffield. In any case, they do a great job of accommodating a lot of cultural mixes in the UK....and it would be ashamed if they lost their own cultural expression (like the 60's) in the process.

Agreed, Larry and no better way to celebrate than a lass in a bikini!
Spot on, John. What a Lone Star state!
Glyn, If "Jordan" is from Sheffield, than I'm from Sheffield too! Cheers!
