Progress report on the JBL
Got the custom made headers pretty much done. Also changed from slip-fit to flanges. Copied Superformance flanges. Now Fabtech will cut off the existing mufflers and replace with Classic Chambered set that I bought.....not as loud as John Ross's Howes.... but a lot less restrictive than what it came with. Also need to have the 02 sensor bung welded on.

Very cool. I've heard half the battle of getting power out of your exhaust is to have a smooth collector, from 4 pipes to one. Not to dump it into a big tube like the stock SPF. Check out Jim W's setup for a good solution.
Can't wait to see this thing!!

Why are you running a voltage regulator? Why not a 1 wire? A lot simpler, and less things to go wrong......... I know about that.

Vector1....If I had it to do over I would go with the one-wire, much cleaner and less hassle. I did not think of it beforehand. However some think the external regulator does a better job but I have no way to compare.
But you have a dry sump system so who are you kidding about keeping it simple
Got the car back home today. Next stop is the get the headers ceramic coated silver, and the sidepipes coated black.
I am going to use Cross Link in Dallas. They do more than anyone else in the area. They are more known for powder coating and dont really advertise the ceramic coating. I checked out their work and it looks real good - shiny and smooth and no pits in the coating. Anyone ever heard of them? Good thing is I dont have to ship them off somewhere.

John R. - Not sure how long to be on the road, but hoping before the summer is over.
Mark - It is 100 amps.
David - I cant think of anything I need help on right now....just wiring to do and that is more tedious stuff that takes some time to sort out. But I will sure take you up on it at some point.

john, 100 amps might be marginal with your efi, electric pump, fan, and other stuff. you'll have to keep an eye on the volts. i don't know about your setup but anything less then 14 volts starts to compromise the accel system from what i have read. accel draws 40-45 amps btw and they sell a 130 or 140 amp alt for their efi stuff, i used this as a basis for what i thought i would need and ended up with a 120 amp setup and haven't noticed any problems.

Mark, I dont think my EFI draws anything near 40 amps. But I will keep my eye on the volts. I added up all devices and I think I have pretty good margin on amps, but we'll see. I dont want to run less than 14 volts either.

good move on the flange for the headers... I always had a struggle to get my slip fits to seal correctly.
So in only a few months we will have both a competition and touring JBL in Dallas. Larry better start getting down here to sell some of these performance machines to the others. We don't want to be able to smoke everyone else on the track by ourselves wait... that means I would actually have to take mine on the track

john gets his running and you guys meet up somewhere like the texas speedway, hallett or run n gun or anywhere to the north let me know, that would be fun. you guys might have to run a restrictor.

I used crosslink... $375 I think for ceramic coating and polish, in silver. Very durable in my opinion, though my road miles are still a bit limited (<2K).
