Long Trip on Goodyear BB's?

Has anyone taken a long trip on their Goodyear Billboards?

This summer I'm going from the Seattle area to Lake Tahoe and then over to San Luis Obispo and up hwy1 and 101. I need new rear tires (imagine that

) and I'm concerned what would happen if I have a tire problem on the trip. I have a tire plug kit and a can of fix a flat, but I'm still concerned.

I have thought about a set of Avons, but I really prefer the look of the Goodyears.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.
