Best way to clean rims on Trigos?
What's the best way to clean the aluminum rims on Trigos? There are some spots that don't come off with just soap and water. Wheels are as they came from Shelby. I am not sure if they are sealed or not, but they don't seem like they are.

I usually don't use soap and water to clean my rims (exception is when I remove the wheels and clean off the inside brake dust).
I started out using Mother's aluminum polish, but found that I like the Meguiar's Hot Rims polish better. The Meguiar's works great on my side pipes as well.

The label on my says Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Wheel Polish.
The Hot Rims Aluminum Wheel polish is the stuff...works great. I just put on some throw away latex gloves, then use one rag for applying the polish and a couple of clean rags to remove it.
Just corrected my post....this is the stuff.

I've been using Mother's for 10 years on my Trigos. I'll have to look in to the Meguiar's product when my tub of Mother's runs empty...

I've tried both. The Mother's product is excellent, it just seems like the Meguiar's is a little easier to apply and clean off.

Buy the Mothers products called, "Power Ball". Simply,.. fantastic stuff.
I use their new "Power Cone" and it's much easier to get in all the small places on Cobra type wheels. (I have the Team III)
I have three different sizes and all work very well. I also use them on my engine parts as well.

As with my last car I opted for the oxidized magnesium look using ally wheels. They, meaning ally, are safer and less $$$$ than older magnesium Halibrands....
My Halibrands had painted centers with treated lip.............
My FIA's are totally treated for the Mag look.....

Safer? In what way are they safer (than I assume you mean polished wheels)?

Uhh, Chas... clearly shiny wheels are more hazardous than dull wheels because the glint from the shine has the potential to blind other drivers. Kind of like RodKnock's entire car.

You guys know I can't help myself with these matters. "Rims" usually implies that we have a 2 part assembly consisting of rims and hubs, like a truck wheel. What we have are "wheels".
Later tonight I'm writing to my local TV station in an attempt toget them to stop saying "Convicted Felon", like there's any other kind.

I think he meant aluminum is safer than magnesium and clearly my car is not a hazard parked in my garage with a car cover on it for 360 days a year.
And furthermore, the drivers out there that choose to not use their turn signals when they change lanes, or the drivers who can't seem to get the F off the phone or stop texting while driving, are a far worse hazard than my shiny aluminum Cobra driven occasionally on weekends. So there.

OK Jeff,
You mean 1965 mags are less safe than ally or my 1992 mags? So far, (with not letting them oxidize) mine are showing no signs of un-safeness.

Wow, nothing like generating a little controversy by asking for the best product to clean my wheels. Must be a slow night.
