I didn't see one of those little R's with a circle, so no copyright infringement. Plagiarism is the highest form of flattery.
I want the DOW 7/dichromate coating like the version in the pic I posted.

OK I'm flattered but still broke.
I agree about the Dow but it's probably not being done these days. Hint: when the wheels are brand-new, clear-coat the centers (DupliColor is excellent-no powder coat) and they will live a long time and slowly get darker from heat (under the clear). It will also be much easier to remove brake dust from the centers-using WD40.
Can I get paid for advice at least???

What about this Gibbs penetrating oil product instead of clear coating?
http://www.roadsters.com/gibbs/
Clear coating would involve me using a spray can and while my graffiti skills are pretty good with freeway walls and overpasses, have I ever told you my sad story of the first and only model car that I built and its thumb-printed paint job?

Per M&A's website:
Magnesium has many benefits over aluminum.
-IT IS 36% LIGHTER THAN ALUMINUM
-MAGNESIUM HAS EXCELLENT MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
-WITH NEWER HIGH PURITY ALLOYS THAT ARE NOW AVAILABLE, CORROSION IS ALMOST NON-EXISTANT
-WE CAN SUPPLY FINISHED CASTINGS WITH A DOW 1 LIGHT GOLD PROTECTION FINISH
or DOW 9 OPTICAL BLACK FINISH
http://www.macastings.com/advantage.html
I'll have mine in the Dow 1 Light Gold whatever.

Dunno, I never used it. Looks good.
For fear of inciting the anti-hijack nazis, start your own 'Gibbs' thread to get answers from anyone that actually used it for wheels.
Also start a 'Model Paint job' thread. I have input for you.

Yes to the Dow 7 question!
Working on getting EXACT backspacing measurements...
I hope to have them in the next day or two.
I have the pictures on my camera - just the camera isnt near me at the moment...

Well, to say that I'm excited is an understatement.
If they fit a Kirkham and will be coated with the Dow 7 coating, then I'm VERY INTERESTED.

If this actually comes to fruition, I just figured out that I may have to order a set of Avons too.
The Porsche guys always talk about that "slippery slope."
Fran, please post pics and more info soon.

Seems as if any wheel project nowadays is hard to get off the ground.
A production run of wheels takes money and in this economy, there seems to be very little liquidity.
Halibrand keeps talking about doing a production run some day in the future too, but alas, nothing is happening as far as I know.

I just hung up with Fran and he is still working on these. He is figuring out what backspacing options to offer so he can cover both the new Shelby rollers/original cars as well as many of the kit cars, etc.
I will be on a road trip with him this coming week to deliver his new Superformance GT40"R" and pick up his new GT MK IV so I will get all the details from him and make sure they are posted.

Rodneym and I both have Kirkhams, so excuse my ignorance, but please ask Fran to make some sets that fit a Kirkham.

Here is the deal as of today...
I can have the wheels made to your backspacing requirements (within certain limits).
You will have to call me and tell me what backspacing you will need.
You can get them with or without the DOW 7 finish
No Halibrand or Cobra markings on the wheels.
50% deposit required.
Since I am not a computer user - call me on my cell for more information 412-441-5750.

A follow up to my last post.
Here is the pricing...
Just for the record - I am really going to make Mag Wheels - and you will be able to pick your backspacing - they will not be marked Hallibrand or Cobra, but will be marked 7.5 or 9.5. I only need orders for 25 sets to proceed - if you really want Mag wheels call me 412-441-5750 - If I get your depost before March 1, the price will be $4000, after March 1, the price will be $4400 a set.
Thanks - Fran Kress
