Torque specs for pin drives
I'm thinking about making a knock off adapter for tightening pin drive wheels. Instead of beating the snot out of the knock off spinners , I thought it might be better to be able to get a more accurate torque value for the wheels. Anybody have a torque spec?

There was a post here last week? on a very nice tool available @ a reasonable price.
Have a look & I don't think you'll bother making one for that price.

I went back and read the whole thread. I still don't see a definite spec for the spinner. Seems that 65 to 200 is the magic number. I wouldn't think that 100-140 would be too far out of a reliable range?

It's about 12527 ft lbs. That's why we use a hammer instead. Besides, you dont want to have to buy a 3/4" torque wrench.

In all honesty, tightening them to a torque value is not the proper method of doing it.

I can use a 1" to 3/4" adapter and use my big torque wrench. my 3/4 only goes to 750.

They make a completely different noise when you hit them and they are already tight -- that's when you stop and tie them. It's kind of like tapping a wall looking for a beam -- it's pretty obvious when you hit it. |

I built a socket that fits the spinner and I torque them to 300 ft pounds.
I have had them off and on MANY times and I feel like this works very well.

Torque our nuts to 400#lbs.......usually takes about 600#lbs to break them loose....
Use a 3/4” torque wrench.....
